It is categorised as ‘NearThreatened’on heritage site on 28 January 2021. The specimens were theIUCN Red List of Threatened Species (Subramanian preserved in 70% alcohol and deposited at Zoological 2011). The reservoir that is stratified during spring-summer and autumn 30 seasons but gets vertically mixed during the Southwest Monsoon (SWM) and winter is 31 characterized by diverse redox nitrogen transformations in space and time. The δ15N and δ18O 32 values of nitrate were low (δ15N = 2-10‰, δ18O = 5-8‰) during normoxic conditions but 33 increased gradually (highest δ15N=27‰, δ18O=29‰) when anoxic conditions facilitated 34 denitrification in the hypolimnion during spring-early summer. Once nitrate was fully utilized + 15 35 and sulphidic conditions set in, NH4 became the dominant inorganic N species, with δ N 36 ranging from 1.3 to 2.6‰. Low δ15N (~−5‰) and δ13C (−37‰ to −32‰) of POM co- + 37 occurring with high NH4 and CH4 in sulphidic bottom waters were probably the 38 consequence of microbial chemosynthesis. Assimilation of nitrate in the epilimnion was the 39 major controlling process on the N-isotopic composition of POM (δ15N = 2 - 6 ‰).

The distribution and occurrence of the tiger, dhole, sloth bear and leopard in the North Western Ghats and adjoining low elevation forests of the Konkan region in the state of Maharashtra, part of the Sahyadri - Konkan corridor (Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund) was investigated and ecological and anthropogenic factors influencing this distribution and occurrence was quantified. As a result of the survey, six key areas of importance to the conservation of large carnivores were identified (See Annexure 1) Since this was a research project without an implementation component, the primary output was a recommendation for strengthening of conservation action in specific areas (given in Annexure 1). Locations (with geographical coordinates) have been provided where necessary action can be taken to allow potential movement of carnivores between protected areas and strengthen connectivity.
