Preparation Guide Overview The purpose of this guide is to help the customer’s local on-site contact (LCON) to understand the site preparation requirements for installing the AT&T FlexWare Devices and Applications.

For issue resolution during the provisioning process, please contact your assigned contact or the field engineer on the premises.

Site Coordinator Responsibilities Each site will need an LCON that can perform several functions to assist with AT&T FlexWare Device(s) installation activities. Following is a check list of responsibilities:

• At single tenant buildings, the LCON should: o Obtain building access and be familiar with the Telco rooms. o Coordinate the site installation. - The contact should be fully empowered to make decisions. o Disclose any parking, noise or time restrictions; unloading zones, elevators, asbestos, hazardous materials, etc. o Provide adequate working space, a clear path to the backboard, jack, cabinets/racks, power outlets, and FlexWare Device(s).

o Be responsible for pre-installation activities or arrangements with AT&T professional services. o Know where the circuit demarcation (demarc) is located in the building.

AT&T and the Globe logo are registered trademarks of AT&T Intellectual Property. o Receive equipment shipments and storing assets in a secure location until installation. o Meet the Field Engineering technician the day of installation. • At multi-tenant buildings (additional responsibilities), the LCON should: o Work with the property manager or building owner to determine the location of your company’s demarc. o Act as a liaison and advocate when working with the building owner or manager. o Ensure any inside wiring requirements have been completed before installation.

Pre-installation activities

Site Preparation – Before Installation: - The LCON at the site will need to ensure the Telco room is ready before installation of FlexWare Device(s), and configuration of FlexWare Applications. - The customer will have the option of performing the site survey internally or having AT&T professional services perform the function at an additional fee. o Please contact your Account Manager for more information regarding professional services. - The LCON will determine whether the installation will be a table top or cabinet/rack mount. For cabinet/rack mount information please refer to Cabinets/Rack Mounts section below. - The LCON will determine whether an adequate power source is available and within 8.2 feet or 2.5 meters from the installation location. - All FlexWare equipment will require a properly grounded 110 VAC, 60 HZ, 1.3 amp. - The appropriate power cord will be sent with the equipment for each country. - The grounding requirements for the equipment are as follows: o Grounding the FlexWare Device(s) will be the customer’s responsibility, AT&T encourages you to consult with your electrical contractor. o All provided equipment, customer relay racks, cabinets and FlexWare Device(s) must be grounded by placing an exposed #6 or larger grounding wire to the building’s ground source. o The ground wire will be attached to the closest ground rod (earth ground) or building bus bar available and run to the network terminating equipment location in the room. » If the cabinet/rack mount is already installed the grounding bar should be present, but a grounding bar will be shipped with the FlexWare Device(s). o A #6 stranded ground is required from your earth electrode system to the equipment room. This would be connected to a grounding bus bar, or otherwise directly connected to different components.

o A #6 stranded ground is required from the grounding bus bar to the network terminating equipment. o Any other specific requirements may also be discussed with field technician at the time of the site survey visit.

Not properly grounding your equipment may result in service quality and maintenance issues.

- The Telco Room Operating Environment will need to be between 40 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and up to 85% relative humidity. - The next step will be determining modem requirements for either the cellular (preferred) or POTS modem. o Cellular Modem pre-installation requirements » Adequate wireless network coverage is required at the spot where the extender or antenna will be installed. » The LCON can use their cellular device (phone or tablet) to test each location. » The cellular device must be connected to an approved partners’ 2G, 3G, or LTE cellular network. . A complete partner list is available by country in the Appendix. » With your mobile phone please go to: https://www.att.com/ » Navigate within the website (please advise AT&T if any issues in website loading or navigation). » If website loads or navigates with no issues, AT&T will proceed with ordering an LTE modem. » The extender or antenna cable that comes with the cellular modem is 25 feet. . If there is weak signal at the FlexWare Device Demarcation Point, the cellular modem extender or antenna can be moved up to 200 feet from the FlexWare Device. The customer will need to verify there is a power source (110 VAC) at the location where the extender or antenna is installed. The customer will be responsible for the cable run and power requirements. . For an additional fee, AT&T professional services can provide cabling and installation for the extender. Your Account Manager can assist you with AT&T professional services. o Plain Old Telephone Service (POTs) Modem: If cellular coverage is unavailable, the customer must order a POTs line, at additional cost to the customer. The AT&T FlexWare Device installation cannot proceed until POTs line is available.

Cabinet/Rack Mount Requirements for the AT&T FlexWare Device(s) Installation

• Cabinet/Rack Mount must meet regional specifications dictated by local regulatory agencies, as well as be clean, environmentally conditioned and have proper lighting. - Space must be secure, including locks on doors • Equipment placement should be decided prior to order placement and subject to confirmation during site visit by an AT&T field engineer. • The space must include 3’/.9m clearance around equipment and floor must withstand between 750lbs / 340 kilos (without batteries) to 1,100lbs / 499 kilos (with batteries). • For standard installation, fiber transport equipment is placed in common area with access to entire building. - Local on-site contact must obtain necessary permissions. • For cabinet installations that require the floor to be raised, there can be no obstructions below the floor tiles and a small section of tile must be cut to allow for cable entry. - See example cabinet equipment footprint requirements under the cable/rack mount illustration. • Rack must be suitable strength and quality for site’s earthquake risk factor and be able to support the intended equipment weight. • If equipment is placed in center of terminal room, an overhead ladder racking or under floor cable tray from the wall to fiber equipment is required. • Operating environment should be between 40 (degrees) F and 85 (degrees) F to 85% relative humidity.

POTs Modem Information Plain old telephone service (POTs) is an interim solution for Out of Band Access (OOBA) when no Cell Service is available at the customer location. Long Term solution will be to use Customer Broadband Connection with RM5400 if cell signal is not available. Analog modem may still be needed if broadband or Cellular is not available at customer location. If the POTs option is selected by customer or by AT&T, the customer is responsible for acquiring the POTs line needed for OOB management. Any analog extension must conform to the service specifications, allowing OOB remote access that must be available 24 hours per day.

For POTs Modem, the US Robotics Courier V. Everything Corporate Modem (Figure 1) is one of choices intended for use as a remote access modem. POTs Modem (US Robotics analog) connected to UCPE from serial interface RS232 on the modem to the RJ45 console port on the FlexWare Device shown in Figure 2. The shipping package of 3453C includes the following 4 parts and should be installed on the telephone line cord.
