EQUITANA 2017, Pressemappe, Seite 2 EQUITANA 2017, Pressemappe, Seite 2 EQUITANA 2017: The thrill of pure equestrianism They all come to EQUITANA: top athletes and top sires, sports and recreational riders from all disciplines, drivers, and horsemanship fans. And regardless of whether you want to build a riding facility, buy a pair of riding trousers or watch the greatest equestrians train: at the Exhibition Centre in Essen from 18 to 26 March, EQUITANA brings together everyone and everything the international world of equestrianism has to offer right now. Where else can you choose from more than 1,600 different varieties of basic, special and supplementary feedstuffs; try out 700 different saddles; or inspect one of the about 100 horse trailers on display? Visitors can look forward to a top-notch programme: training evenings with Ingrid Klimke and Pat Parelli; live training sessions with stars such as Isabell Werth, Ludger Beerbaum, Andreas Ostholt and Christian Ahlmann; an exclusive stallion show featuring the German State Studs; the HOP TOP Show gala; and the new VOLTI-MAGIC vaulting show. The entire programme adds up to a 700- hour programme full of lessons, cup events and shows. Exclusive training night: “INGRID KLIMKE live” presented by SAP Dressage, jumping, cavaletti work and cross-country riding – like few INGRID KLIMKE live others, Olympic, world and Monday, 20 March European champion Ingrid Klimke 8:00 p.m., Hall 6 embodies a multifaceted, humane training philosophy. In the two-hour show on 20 March entitled “INGRID KLIMKE live”, the probably most versatile rider in Germany will offer insights into her philosophy along with valuable tips audience members can incorporate in their daily horse training at home. “From bush to dressage, we’ll show off everything we’ve got”, says Ingrid Klimke. “Above all, I want to demonstrate the joy I feel working with horses. My wish would be that all members of the audience, regardless of their preferred riding style, can take home something that night they’ll want to try out the very next day.” EQUITANA 2017, Pressemappe, Seite 3 Learning from world and Olympic champions A total of 80 instructors, trainers, and top athletes will participate in EQUITANA’s daytime programme. With Isabell Werth, Ludger Beerbaum, Andreas Ostholt, Frank Ostholt, Christian Ahlmann and Nicole Uphoff-Selke, top international stars will pass on their skills in impressive daily demonstrations. Training is also a key topic emphasised by the German Equestrian Federation (FN). Topics range from basic training to high-performance sports. The focus is on creative riding lessons for children, modern jumping, safe cross-country riding, safety in driving, riding style comparisons (“Western meets Classic”) and a dressage lesson with German national coach Monica Theodorescu. Pavo HENGSTE 2017 presents the German State Studs Pavo HENGSTE 2017 Sunday, 19 March 8:00 p.m., Hall 6 Top stallions in top hands – that’s one way to succinctly describe this year’s EQUITANA breeding show HENGSTE. On 19 March, the German State Studs will bring their star sires along with some of the most successful German dressage riders to EQUITANA’s large ring: DSP Belantis under Isabell Werth, Imperio TSF under Hubertus Schmidt, Ben Kingsley under Helen Langehanenberg and Illuminati S under Fabienne Lütkemeier. The show promises to become a “parade of stallions” in all their diversity – before the start of the breeding season. In “Pavo HENGSTE 2017”, the German State Studs will open up their treasure chests to show off their jewels – from living cultural assets to cold-blooded breeds to riding ponies and thoroughbred Arabians to highly advanced warm-blooded top performers. EQUITANA 2017, Pressemappe, Seite 4 “Passepartout” – the new HOP TOP Show at EQUITANA HOP TOP Show “Passepartout” Saturday, 18 March Wednesday, 22 March Friday, 24 March Saturday, 25 March 8:00 p.m., Hall 6 When Amicale Equestre de la Montagnette steps into EQUITANA’s large ring – with her 30 Camargue horses, no less – she’ll take the audience on a journey to the unique landscape of the Camargue and call up memories of the most beautiful holiday they’ve ever been on. With the new HOP TOP Show “Passepartout”, EQUITANA frames life’s special moments, stories and encounters in a poetic setting. As always, the HOP TOP Show has attracted the stars of the community: joining Lorenzo, the Flying Frenchman who again this year will bring both his famous white Lusitano and his black up-and-comers to Essen, Alizée Froment and her Sultan will show off the subtlest of communication skills using barely visible signals. Spaniard Santi Serra Camps enchants audiences with his playful handling of his Friesian horses. Team Norka from the Vaulting Club Cologne-Dünnwald, the reigning German team champions, get audiences fired up with a lineup of top stars gathered around world and European champion Patric Looser – like Working Equitation specialist Mitja Hinzpeter and Team Signum Sattelservice. EQUITANA 2017, Pressemappe, Seite 5 PAT PARELLI live on 23 March PAT PARELLI live Thursday, 23 March 8:00 p.m., Hall 6 Pat Parelli will perform in his own evening show at EQUITANA for the third time after 2011 and 2013. The exclusive programme on 23 March promises to deliver one thing above all: two hours of pure Parelli! His training concept, Parelli Natural Horsemanship (PNH), has emerged as one of the most well-known and successful training concepts of its kind. The method functions as foundational training for each rider to build upon individually. Respect, trust and communication are the cornerstones of working with the horse. So there is great anticipation ahead of the first leg of the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Western European League 2016/2017, which gets underway at the Odense Horse Show in Denmark this weekend. Few have captured the #TwoHearts symbolism as perfectly as the multiple record- breaking partnership of Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin and her wonderful gelding Valegro, who have dominated the sport in recent years. Together, they have demonstrated that freedom of movement, lightness, self-carriage and the most pleasing harmony are all achievable through good training and sympathetic horsemanship, but having raised the bar to a whole new level after securing back-to-back Olympic titles in Rio they will retire at London’s Olympia Horse Show in December.
