SUMMARY ............................................................................................................... 197 16. Milić, 1994, 58, 67, 76-78, 80; Egipat i antička Grčka, 2007, 142. 5 gradnje komunikacija, osnivanje kolonija te nastanjivanje rimskih legija, kohorti i beneficijara i njihov doprinos gradnji cesta i utvrda. Romanizacija će obuhvatiti okolinu ilirskih upravnih središta, garnizona, vojnih uporišta i stanica na cestama. Posvetit će se pažnja rimskim vojnim logorima, urbanim i seoskim naseljima. Učvršćivanjem rimske vlasti, razvojem ekonomije i dolaskom isluženih vojnika i doseljenika nastaje i nova vrsta seoskog imanja

It brings together individuals and institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad committed to the creation of a harmonious and united society, based on dialogue, trust, and respect. It advocates best practice in the fields of human rights protection, the rule of law, and democracy. IFB members are committed to the promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a plural society with a very rich political and cultural heritage, a heritage we believe to be a significant resource for the development of a unified polity exemplifying the best aspects of the European spirit. IFB members believe such development requires a new intellectual community capable of analysing social and political behaviour and views and of developing the new understandings required for trust to be restored across society. IFB approaches these goals in two ways. The first involves the deconstruction of the divisive political and social ideologies based on ethnicity, religion, and other exclusive world-views which have been underlying causes of mistrust, intolerance, and social exclusion and major generators of social tension and conflict in the region. The second involves the systematic development and promotion of a new synthesis for Bosnia and Herzegovina based on a vision of social development free from fear, hostilities, and tensions.

  • Dragan Komadina: “A Short History of Croatian Theatre in Bosnia and Herzegovina”
Croatian Studies Review 9 (2013) Dragan Komadina: “A Short history of Croatian theatre in Bosnia and Herzegovina” Dragan Komadina Faculty of Performing Arts University of Sarajevo Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegiovina [email protected] Abstract The history of Croatian theatre in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be separated from the Western European theatre – from poorly documented ancient to somewhat stronger and more visible medieval influences. However, the development of Croatian drama and theatre in Bosnia and Herzegovina, interrupted during the Ottoman occupation, was renewed in the spirit of national revival during the 19th century, first in Mostar, and then in Sarajevo. The peak of the theatrical development was reached in the late 1990s, when the Croatian National Theatre was established in Mostar. It was the first theatrical institution with the prefix Croatian. Over the course of nearly half a millennium, Croatian dramatic works succeeded in not only preserving the national identity, but also in making a significant contribution to intercultural exchanges in this part of Europe through the rich and stormy political past of the Balkans. Key words: Croatians, Bosna and Herzegovina, theatre, Croatian drama in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatian National Theatre in Mostar 98 Croatian Studies Review 9 (2013) The history of theatre in Herzegovina could be extended to the primordial image from the cave of Badanj at the locality of Borojevići in the surroundings of Stolac: the indigenous inhabitants of present day Herzegovina gather round a fire telling stories. One of them unexpectedly rises to conjure up the tale of the hunt so that it is convincing for the audience.

OLD CITY ULQIN THE ANALYSIS OF DEVELOPMENTS SINCE THE MID-20TH CENTURY AN ANCILLARY APROACH TO CONSERVE THE AUTHENTICITY Author: Lirjetё Avdiu - Vejsa Author: Lirjetё Avdiu - Vejsa Representing: GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION Old City Area ca. 29 ha Population: Albanians KOSOVA The Old City of Ulqin is part of the nowadays municipality of Ulqin, located in the southeastern part of Montenegro, bordering city to Albania. The Old City is positioned strategically since its genesis; atop a sloppy coastal cliff rising up on the west side of the small bay. It’s a peninsula surrounded on three sides by sea, stretching almost ideally from north to south, where only the northern part is connected to the ground. This positioning played an important role for the Old City throughout its historical development. Alongside multiple naval connections through Adriatic and Mediterranean Sea, the vicinity to Buna River, Shas Lake and Shkodra Lake enabled it’s communication and trading through continental trading routes as well. Besides other natural treasures, the natural salt lagoon of 1500 ha just about 1km away, was among the largest richness of this Old City. FORMATION The Old Fortified City of Ulqin rises up to 61m above sea level and is developed in harmony with the topography of the rock on which it stands. As the terrain determines, it has a sloping structure stretching from the north to the south direction sea (higher to lower), as well from the middle Structures and buildings are placed perpendicularly to isohypses, which is an important characteristic of the Illyrian Architecture. It resembles as well with the Old City of Tivar (old: Antivari), proving that native residents of this region have historically been building in interaction with geomorphology of the lands.
