355 Confirmation from King Edward II to the abbot and convent of Selby of the licence he previously gave them to acquire 28 pounds' worth of land, tenements and rents, notwith- standing the Statute of Mortmain. He now grants his licence to Thomas de Acastre permitting him to give to the abbey 5 acres of wood in Acaster [Selby] which he held of the abbey. An inquisition conducted by John de Eure, the King's eschaetor beyond the Trent, has found that the 5 acres of wood are worth 2s. 6d. This property is to be part of the 28 pounds' worth they are allowed to acquire.
