W E L C O M E T O GEIRANGERFJORD A SPECTACULAR NATURAL EXPERIENCE GEIRANGERFJORD Geirangerfjord is located on the western part of Norway, in the Sunnmøre region of Møre og Romsdal county, It is small in terms of population, but never the less an important origin of Norwegian exports, and for tourism. It is a 15 - km long branch of Sunnylvsfjorden and Storfjorden. Over 1000 years, the interplay between ice, rushing waterfalls and mountains has created a stunning fjord landscape.The area’s unique natural surroundings were created during a succession of ice ages when glaciers carved out deep fjords and shaped the high mountains. Along the fjord's sides you find a number of now-abandoned farms. Some restoration has been made by the Storfjordens Venner association. The most commonly visited among the farms are Skageflå, Knivsflå, and Blomberg. Skageflå may also be reached on foot from Geiranger, while the others require a boat excursion. The fjord is also host to several impressive waterfalls such as Seven Sister waterfall. GEIRANGERFJORD CRUISE PORT GEIRANGER - HELLESYLT - STRANDA Geirangerfjord cruise port has over 180 cruise ship visiting the port every year. First Cruise call was in 1869. In 1906 we received 112 cruise ship visits. We are visited by over 900 000 people from different parts of the world, yearly - arriving either by bus, cars or by boat. Stranda hamnevesen KF (Stranda Port Authority) is in charge of Geirangerfjord Cruise Port, that consist of three ports. PORTS Geiranger Port (NOGNR-0001) – ISPS approved Hellesylt Port (NOHSY-0001) – ISPS approved Stranda Port - Not ISPS approved GEIRANGERFJORD CRUISE PORT GEIRANGER PORT Geiranger port is located in a small village called Geiranger. The village has about 200 inhabitants living all year. Geiranger is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, its norrow fjord and tall mountains, was named the best travel destination in Scandinavia by Lonely Planet. In 2005, the Geirangerfjord area was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Norwegian County Road 63 passes through the village. Geiranger Church, is a white, wooden, octagonal church built in 1842 by the architect Hans Klipe. Anchorage: has three anchors positions depending on the size of the ship. Pontoons 1 ex. 200T. SeaWalk available: 236 m long, 4,5 m wide steel, ADA compliant construction GEIRANGERFJORD CRUISE PORT HELLESYLT PORT Hellesylt Port is located in a small village called Hellesylt. The village lies at the head of Sunnylvsfjorden, which is a branch of Storfjorden. Hellesylt is 0.41-square-kilometer (100-acre) and has about 253 inhabitants. The gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site - Hellesylt Port has long traditions as a cruise destination, and is well known as the starting or ending point of the classic overland excursions to Geiranger, or excursion to Stranda. In the summertime, thousands of tourists travel through or stay in Hellesylt, each day. The village is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and valleys. The Sunnylven Church is located in Hellesylt, it was build in 1859 with a total of 400 seats. Hellesylt has a dedicated cruise pier: Length 143 metres - Draught 10.52 metres GEIRANGERFJORD CRUISE PORT STRANDA PORT Stranda port is in Stranda village which is the administrative center of Stranda municipality which consists of Geiranger, Hellesylt, Liabygda and Stranda. The central village, Stranda, has about 2,600 inhabitants. The 866-square-kilometer (334 sq mi) municipality is the 129th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Stranda is an exciting facility for shore excursions and activities and is one of Scandinavia’s most renowned freeride ski destinations. The ski resort has invested in a gondola and two chairlifts so they can offer visitors a spectacular view of the mountains and the fjord. A visit to Stranda can be combined uniquely with Geiranger and Hellesylt. Visitors also have the option to combine these stops with a visit to Ålesund. GEIRANGER VILLAGE 1. Geiranger Church 2.
