• Mogwai – As the Love Continues
„As The Love Continues“ beginnt in Form von ‚To The Bin My Friend, Tonight We Vacate Earth‘ mit sehr dezenten Tönen, sanftem Schlagzeugspiel und sparsamen Melodien. Das anschließende ‚Here We, Here We, Here We Go Forever‘ wird durch piepende Synthesizer-Sounds eingeleitet, welche stilistisch an die schottischen Landsleute vonBoards of Canada denken lassen.

  • Joan As Police Woman
„This record is darker and more pensive. The title is undeniably dramatic but it’s a subject I’ve been tan- gling with all my life: how does one live a devoted life without becoming obsessed or losing one’s mind?“, sagt Joan Wasser über “Damned Devotion“.

After last month’s bumper issue, we thought this month would be a doddle, but what with assorted internet problems, cancelled gigs and a near miss with floodwater it’s a wonder it’s here at all. Suffice to say, the sooner humanity abandons modern technology and returns to potato printing and carrier pigeons the sooner we shall start feeling at home in the world. Preferably a world where it never rains and singers never lose their voices. Is that really too much to ask? Last month’s feature on the closure of regional venues has provoked quite a reaction and it’s good to hear from people who are making the effort to start promoting live music around the county. Hopefully music fans out there will support them as much as they can.
