History of Jewish people in Georgia commenced thousands of years ago. According to “Kartlis Tskhovreba” (Life of Kartli), a collection of Georgian chronicles, compiled in the Mid- dle Ages, the first migration of Jews and their settling in Mtskheta was in the 6th century BC. Later migration of the Jews to Georgia has taken place several times and they settled in different regions. Religious holidays have particular load and meaning for the people deprived of their mother land and indicates their permanent connection with the God and historical Promised Land. This tradition was transferred with great care from one generation to the other and includ- ed the rituals not only at the Synagogue but also at home.
