David Leopold is an author and curator who has organized exhibitions for institutions around the country including the Library of Congress, the Field Museum in Chicago, the James A. Michener Art Museum, and the . Internationally, he has organized shows for museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Filmmuseum in Berlin. He has been the archivist of ’s work for 25 years and has written extensively about twentieth century performance . His latest book is THE HIRSCHFELD CENTURY: A PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST AND HIS AGE to coincide with the opening of an exhibition of the same name at the New York Historical Society. His other books include: THE ART OF TONY AUTH, DRAWN TO LIFE, DAVID LEVINE'S AMERICAN PRESIDENTS, IRVING BERLIN'S SHOW BUSINESS. Leopold is also the Picture Editor of the award-winning literary magazine, The Lincoln Center Theater Review. His articles have appeared in various publications including and The International Herald Tribune. He served as consultant on the PBS series "Broadway: The American Musical" and the Oscar nominated documentary, "The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story."
