At the starting of the film it has already told us that the film has been made not based on "actual facts" but based on the "theories" of a book. If the so call "facts and findings" which we have heard from the official media are really firm enough one hardly will be mislead by the fiction lines of this film. If this fiction film has been skillfully made that it has carried the audience into a "believable" fiction world with exciting fantasy, that means it has been well made, right? By the way, who is that Helen Mirren anyway? Why should one has to listen to her comments at the Oscar ceremonies? Just because she has played a queen role and win a price? Sorry, no way. Whether this film should have been made? Well, if this is not a film with interesting story plot, the Luxembourg Film Council would hardly have joined the co-production and probably the co-funding? Anyway, as an ordinary film watcher, I find this film rather nice and is worth to see. It might chill your spine in a lonely rainy night. Looking for something to watch? This, of course, is no fairy tale; rather, it is a somber and all too real account of the life of a true princess, and of the powerful forces In "The Murder of Princess Diana", Noel Botham deftly weaves together myriad threads of facts, key figures and events to create an impressively vivid and cohesive tale -- a tale of a traumatized woman, her tragic and seemingly orchestrated death, and those who would continue to victimize her through lies, betrayals and obfuscation, even after her passing. This, of course, is no fairy tale; rather, it is a somber and all too real account of the life of a true princess, and of the powerful forces that never ceased their attempts to silence her. As someone who has read numerous publications on the life of Princess Diana, over the years, I was thoroughly impressed by the sheer quantity and depth of the details and even surprised by many of the revelations disclosed within the pages of this particular book. As such, I would highly recommend it to all. Jul 05, Mick Bose rated it really liked it. It could only be shown in the UK after 87 cuts. It was a big hit at Cannes. At the Inquest - the longest and most expensive in british hisotry apparently - not a single Royal was called to give evidence. The court was also the royal court. Diana was clearly killed. Even if she was not pregnant - she could have become later on with Dodi. A muslim boy as the future step brother of the english monarch? Shudder shudder! Diana was a flawed personality. But the way Charles and Camilla hunted her down from day one, and then ganged up on her is remarkable. And Charles is now married to that extraordinarily ugly woman - and she is even the new Duchess of Wales. Camilla is a well hated figure in the British public imagination - so Charles of course, married her. Quite understandable for a family who are actually German but call themselves English. Noel Botham does an excellent job on providing sufficient evidence that would clearly seem to indicate the truth of the title, that Diana's death was no accident. However, there could be many counter arguments to prove that it definitely was an accident and some of that evidence is presented when the author gives the French officials' verdicts and evidence. But the overriding impression after finishing the book is that there were dark forces at work against Diana. It Will the truth ever come out? It is a book that, once started, is difficult to put down. Jul 10, Kay Cugini rated it liked it. I enjoyed the book, it is well written and appears well researched. I came in to this book with an open mind and ended it curious, intending to research a bit more, but have not been convinced even though I am quite suspicious and a lot does not add up of the official reports. For me though a car accident has way too many flaws, sledgehammer to crack a nut surely? You could and would end up killing or injuring many other innocent people and could not guarantee it would eliminate your target Hmm. You could and would end up killing or injuring many other innocent people and could not guarantee it would eliminate your target anyway surely? The main area issue for me goes to motive, understanding the arms trade etc re land mines campaign and effect on their 'business' shades of JFK but I don't buy the claimed issue of the mother of the future King 'converting to Islam' it is my understanding that neither of Al Fayad Seniors' wives converted? I also don't believe the Royal Family are a bunch of assassins or employers of them. Various secret services I just don't know, the link to a plot by MI6 to allegedly kill Milosovic the same way is interesting, as is the claim that various secret services personnel are identified as mingling with crowds outside the Ritz, the oddity of the carbon monoxide in Henri Paul's blood and the fact that SURELY good grief somebody would have spotted the man having such a high amount of alcohol in his blood apparantly being drunk! As someone who grew up with an alcoholic, there is no way of them to hide it. I'm intrigued and this book has made me interested to read more. Nov 27, Patrice Tenorio rated it really liked it. Dec 30, Linda rated it it was amazing Shelves: own. Fascinating, horribly disturbing expose on her death and what is clearly a coverup. If there's nothing to hide, why go to so much trouble to destroy evidence? We'll probably never know for sure what happened, but there's definitely something rotten in Denmark or in this case, Britain. I'm surprised they aren't clamoring for the truth. View all 4 comments. Apr 17, Roz Radmore rated it it was amazing. This is a very plausible account of the death of Princess Diana. It takes the reader step by step through her life , divorce and love to her final day. Much of what is presented here is not new information , but the way it is presented is clear. The love which the young Diana had for Charles. The hatred once she realized that his long affair with Camilla Parker Bowles was still ongoing and the despair which she felt at being trapped in a loveless marriage. She was becoming a problem to the S This is a very plausible account of the death of Princess Diana. She was becoming a problem to the Senior Royals and politicians around the world. The landmines issue which she was against so strongly and publicly seems to have been the catalyst for her removal. This book answers many questions people have been asking over the years. It might be true , it might not , but certainly Diana's death was not a straightforward accident. Jun 29, Laura rated it it was amazing. Noel Botham, an investigative journalist, gives his account of the victimization of Princess Diana. He spends a long time on her life with Prince Charles who never wanted to marry the princess to begin with and how she was treated. Botham then sets the stage for Princess Diana's "accident" that so many of us remember. He claims and attempts to prove that England's MI6 was behind her death. This book raises a lot of questions but Bothman provides his documentation. Mar 12, Mlg rated it really liked it Shelves: non- fiction. I thought this would be a sensationalized account of the Princess' death, I was surprised at the research and new information that the author uncovered. Decided to read this in advance of watching that "Unlawful Killing" documentary I've had stored for ages. Interesting stuff, but I'm still not convinced, and I'm usually a sucker for a good conspiracy theory Jun 19, Samantha Osborne rated it it was amazing. Mar 12, Jennifer Yvonne Burboa rated it it was amazing. Very sad book Interesting stuff even if much of it is based on hearsay and conjecture. Still makes you wonder what exactly covered up that night and lots of strange coincidences and unanswered questions. Worth reading. May 19, Lynn rated it it was amazing. I had always thought Diana was murdered. This book supports my view on her death. It filled in a lot of blanks though we still want the truth to be told to the public. We still want all the facts, not the story that was told as it was and still is, a cover-up. A good read if you are a fan of conspiracy theories with no factual basis. Very well written book. Excellent account of Diana's life in the Royal Family looking at her relationship with various members of it. Also the reasons for her death and the subsequent cover-up. The murder of Princess Diana I conclude that the truth of Princess Diana death lies in the hands of highly powered people in the top jobs and elsewhere. They should be made to hand over information so it can be put to rest. Diana will never be forgotten. Aug 06, Janet rated it it was amazing Shelves: biography , non-fiction-crime. The truth will never be known At first I thought it was a far fetched idea. Then I read this. Thought provoking, disturbing, convincing. Not saying I believe that Diana was murdered, but quite an interesting book. Mar 21, Anita Parsley rated it liked it Shelves: forensics. Apr 26, Gayatri Salhotra rated it it was amazing. Noel Botham's 'The Murder of Princess Diana', first published in , is much shorter with just pages, far less detail and information than is found in Morgan's book. Botham splits his work in half with the first pages covering Diana's troubled time in the Royal family and the second half covering the events in Paris. It has to be said that both books come to very Having read John Morgan's epic from 'How They Murdered Princess Diana', this is my second foray into the investigation. It has to be said that both books come to very similar conclusions and point the finger of responsibility chiefly to British Intelligence and also uncover many of the same examples of cover-up, involving both French and British authorities. Botham concentrates on the French, so called, investigation, whereas Morgan features the British Inquest evidence. Also at variance is Morgan's more detailed probe into Diana's condition post crash, her medical maltreatment in the car and in the SAMU ambulance, which Botham does not look into in such detail. The Murder of Princess Diana by Noel Botham

That moment, in the early hours of the 31st August , shook the world. A chase that ended in tragedy as the car hit a pillar in the Alma tunnel at an estimated kph. Indeed, they weren't even present when the car crashed. It concluded that Diana had been unlawfully killed by the following vehicles, never identified, exacerbated by her driver Henri Paul being drunk. But many troubling details uncovered at the inquests cast serious doubt that the crash was just a tragic accident. The official narrative has the passengers, Princess Diana, her companion , the driver Henri Paul and bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones attempting to discreetly leave the Paris Ritz by the back entrance in order to avoid the throng of paparazzi waiting outside. He is seen on CCTV repeatedly exiting the back door in the hours proceeding their departure and talking to paparazzi to inform them when they planned to leave. Moments before Diana and Dodi are lead to their car Paul signals the waiting photographers. The paparazzi themselves found this behaviour highly unusual. If the group had wanted to avoid the waiting press, why was Paul trying his best attract their attention? But all the evidence suggests he was no more than a moderate social drinker. After the autopsy, Henri Paul's blood was found to contain more than 3 times the legal limit for alcohol under French law. Numerous problems were found; samples disappear, they have the wrong dates on, they contain several drugs that Paul was not known to take and his blood, most confusingly of all, contained incredibly high levels of carbon monoxide that none of the pathologists could explain. The readings were so high that Paul would have felt noticeably and violently ill, something nobody who was with Paul that night observed. Even the judge at the inquest appeared to doubt the samples were from Paul. Suggestively, researchers found one of the other bodies in the morgue that night was of a suicide victim who killed themselves via carbon monoxide poisoning. There are reports of high-powered motorcycles encircling the car, and paint found on the crashed vehicle was forensically matched to a white Fiat Uno turbo, indicating a collision between them. Unlike the paparazzi who arrived after the crash and stayed at the scene taking photos, the drivers of these vehicles left the tunnel immediately. What role did they play in the crash and why did they flee the scene? Andanson, a colourful character with a shady background, owned a white Fiat Uno and investigators found it had recently undergone repairs for a broken tail light. Andanson, allegedly an MI6 informant, had been blabbing to his friend, crime writer Frederic Dard, that he was in the tunnel that night and had photos of the crash. Diana kept it in a safe box in Kensington Palace. She only spoke with her sister about the tape. You can read more from below. It has to be said that both books come to very Having read John Morgan's epic from 'How They Murdered Princess Diana', this is my second foray into the investigation. Botham does not mention these men in this book, but relates statements from MI6 whistle-blowers Richard Tomlinson and David Shayler to reach the same verdict. Morgan also provides more unknown motorcyclists harassing the vehicle, where Botham just features a single bike with the white Fiat Uno involved in causing the crash. Both authors identify the Fiat driver as James Andanson, a man with paparazzi and intelligence links who was found years later in his burned out car with a bullet hole in his head. Both authors demolish the so called evidence that Henry Paul was drunk and expose the fraud of his autopsy blood sample showing excess alcohol and a large reading of carbon monoxide. Morgan states that there were two bodies on the slab at Paul's autopsy and both point to there being a suicide in Paris that day of a depressed man who drunk alcohol before fixing a hose from his car exhaust. Both authors expose Rosa Monckton, Diana's close friend and trusted confidant who latched onto the Princess as problems with her marriage to Charles began. Both authors also cover the illegal embalming performed on Diana at the Pitie Salpetriere Hospital, allegedly performed to remove evidence of her pregnancy. In summation 'The Murder of Princess Diana' dishes the dirt and does reveal enough of the truth behind this high establishment sanctioned assassination and cover-up. I personally prefer the much larger and detailed book from John Morgan. She may have been termed the 'people's princess', but the people must not learn of who caused this fake accident, or who gave the green light. What is not given a mention in both books concerns Mohammed Al Fayed. By the 's Al Fayed had become a senior Egyptian intelligence officer, working under cover with a company Al-Nasir, which was owned by Adnan Khashoggi the arms dealer involved years later in Iran-Contra. Small world! I am not a royalist but neither am I 'pro-Diana' and whilst all of this business of her turbulent life with Prince Charles was going on, I really could not have cared less. When she died, it barely made a blip on my radar. And then, just recently, I happened upon a controversial ie banned from being screened just about anywhere film about the incident which gave me pause for thought. Then I came across this book. I approached it with some healthy skepticism. Much of the book is about Diana's terrible marriage, her husbands infidelity from the get go, and her dalliances with other men. In the mix is also Princess Anne's extra marital affairs, the secret surveillance of the royal family, 'what the butler' type of anecdotes, and the Queen's attitude and reaction to her family's dysfunction. And lets not forget the Diana's less than supportive family. All of this is a backdrop to what happened on that fateful day, and is used by the author to establish motive as to why her royal inlaws or the Establishment would want her removed from the picture, so to speak. Actual pages dedicated to the actual event, the investigation, the outcome and the aftermath, were far fewer than what I was expecting from this book, which is a pity. It covered all the main points, but there was a lack of detail. Having now read the book I am still more or less sitting on the fence as to whether Diana's death was an accident or not, though am finding myself leaning a bit closer to 'not'. Sep 20, Laurie rated it liked it Recommends it for: Princess Diana fans. He claims that paparazzi were involved, but only because they were hired by the British secret service. The Royal family wanted her dead because she was dating an Egyptian Muslim, possibly having his baby, and if she was dead, then Charles could marry Camilla. It's all very interesting, especially when you take into consideration that many files, videos, pictures were not released to ANYONE. Evidence seems to point to the investigation being thwarted by French police and others acting on orders from what the author calls the "Establishment. Many people might call the book's author a conspiracy theorist, but who knows? Maybe he's right. Many things point to a plot against Diana as opposed to a simple accident. Sep 16, Dale Stonehouse rated it it was ok. The conclusion of this book is no surprise, you don't send streetwashers to clean an accident scene within a few hours unless a coverup is under way. If I was expecting to feel sorry for the Princess for her fate, I got a big surprise. Diana brought most of her troubles on herself, with extreme codependent behavior and thinking as well as the need to be right and seeking vengeance. She proved herself right and the Royals wrong - but she ended up dead right and the Royals may or may not have been The conclusion of this book is no surprise, you don't send streetwashers to clean an accident scene within a few hours unless a coverup is under way. She proved herself right and the Royals wrong - but she ended up dead right and the Royals may or may not have been proven wrong. In a way it is comforting to know that royalty does not exempt anyone from being human. One of Diana's big reasons for wanting revenge was having been stripped of her HRH title Her Royal Highness - such silliness was worth dying for. There is an ample supply of left-brained logical obsession with proof to the point of overkill, but that is to be expected. Jun 26, Barbra rated it really liked it.
