Low density calcium silicate boards are very efficient insulating products. They have a low thermal conductivity which leads to low heat losses.

The very light insulation systems also reduce the heat storage of the lining. These materials are stable up to 1050 °C and classifi ed as A1, non-combustible according to EN 13501-1 and building material class DIN 4102.

Low density calcium silicates are the “classic” back-up insulation in combination with dense refractories, insulating and castables for a broad range of applications. They are very cost effective due to their price/performance in comparison with other insulating products. PROMASIL® calcium silicates

Installation is much faster when compared to conventional insulating bricks. Low density calcium silicates should not be used as the front exposure layer in high temperature applications as their low thermal conductivity and large size can lead to thermal stresses.

The material is hygroscopic. When installed with castables a protective layer such as waxed paper, a plastic foil, or an impregnation coating is advised. The Promat® Impregnation 2000 can be applied in our factory or by the customer on site.

• 62 insulating bricks for 1 m2 • 2 PROMASIL®-boards for 1 m2 Calcium silicates are not resistant to strong acids. High strength electrical insulation These insulating technical ‘ceramics’ are engineered high density boards that have originally been developed to be a high temperature replacement for asbestos boards. Due to their very high mechanical strength and electrical resistance combined with minimal shrinkage, they are generally preferred for applications up to 1000 °C where good electrical resistance is required. Examples include arc chutes, support members for heating elements, hot press insulation, and dust- free linings in heat treatment furnaces for electronics.

The material is hygroscopic which can infl uence the electrical resistance. Heat treatment to eliminate the moisture is necessary.

The outstanding performance characteristics of DURATEC®- XP make it the best choice in terms of efficiency and durability when compared to any other similar product for replacement of asbestos boards in DURATEC® application induction furnaces.
