BLESSED SACRAMENT Coat of Arms of CATHEDRAL The Most Reverend Mother Church and Parish of the Edward C. Malesic, J.C.L. Bishop of Greensburg Diocese of Greensburg Baptism of the Lord ~ January 12, 2020

Regional Study

Starting on January 22, 2020, Deacon Bill Hisker will be conducting a Bible Study Program for the parishes in the Greensburg regional area. The Bible study will meet on Wednesday Mornings from 9:00 - 10:30 AM and repeat on Wednesday Evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 PM both sessions in the formation center. The program assumes no previous training and is open to all who are interested on how God’s word impacts their journey of faith.

Our initial meetings will be on Wednesday January 22nd at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral with some background on Christian Bible Study for those that are just joining the group. This spring we will be examining the letters of Saint Paul with special emphasis on Paul’s letter to the Romans.

The sessions will be designed such that a person can attend as many or as few of the sessions as their schedules permit. Someone who is interested can begin even if they are not present for the first session or must miss a session. Please note we will be meeting in the Faith Formation Center at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Please come and join us on the journey through the Scriptures.

Saint Series

Please join us for another session of our Saint Series on Monday, January 13, at 6:45 pm for the film The Young Messiah. Inspired by Scripture and rooted in history, The Young Messiah imagines a year in the boyhood of . When the mystery of Jesus’ divinity begins to unfold in His early years, He turns to His parents for answers. But Mary and Joseph, in an effort to protect their child, are afraid to reveal all they know. How do you explain the ways of the world to its Creator? Follow the young Messiah as He and His family take the extraordinary journey from Egypt to and on to —where His true identity and profound destiny are revealed. The Young Messiah will be shown in the Social Hall. Contact Sister Jeanne Marie for more information.

The Fourth Wiseman Monday, January 27, 6:45-8:45 pm Based on Henry Van Dyke’s classic, “The Story of the Other Wise Man,” a fictional story set in Biblical times, told in gently comic terms. It concerns a Magi name Artaban who studies the prophecies and witnesses a sign in the heavens that he hopes will lead him and his faithful servant to the Messiah. Artaban takes with him three precious gifts to present to the Messiah. For 33 year he pursues Jesus, only to miss Him at every turn. Along the way, Artaban uses his gifts to help people in dire need. He now has nothing to present to the Messiah when he finds Him. The story culminates on Easter Sunday as Artaban, old and dying, finally encounters the new King, bringing peace to his final moments of life. Please contact Sister Jeanne Marie for more details.
