as a person of faith who watches a lot of entertainment and reads a lot of enter- taining things, the connection is critical and very important. For me, if I didn’t really understand it, or if I didn’t connect to it, then it’s a very hard project to advo- cate for — for anyone to advocate for. So I felt a connection to their story, their journey, and that’s what motivated me to want to help bring their story to the big screen... I felt it would be a great story to inspire people with the revela- tion that miracles are real, and miracles are all around us and we have to look for them. We get too close to it and tell too much or not enough. “Ben-Hur” is a good example. It’s getting poor reviews, and criticized for being too violent or that the main character is physically not strong enough to bear what that character had to undergo. But the biggest criticism is that the story of redemption has been cut out. Christians try to make films like others, but often don’t do it as well.
