  • The Forefather and Patriarch You Thought You Knew
The Forefather and Patriarch You Thought You Knew. LOS ANGELES, CA (EPP) - Brian Godawa, the award-winning screenwriter of To End All Wars, began a new saga of Biblical fantasy novels with his release of Noah Primeval to phenomenally positive reviews across the internet and on Amazon. The fourth book in the saga Chronicles of the Nephilim is now available in paperback and on Kindle: Abraham Allegiant. After the Great Flood, the giant king Nimrod builds the Tower of Babel and unites the world in rebellion against the Creator. He seeks to achieve godhood as world potentate and bring in the pantheon of gods to rule with him. But Yahweh has other plans. He causes the confusion of languages and disperses Nimrod's kingdom to the four corners of the earth, allotting the nations under the authority of pagan deities. He then chooses a simple nomad Abram as next in the line of the seed of Promise. But Nimrod is not dead. He sets out on a course of revenge to find Abram and kill him in order to thwart Yahweh's plan of creating a people for his own inheritance. As his quest drives him deeper into madness, the stakes rise; for the land which Abram discovers he is being given is Canaan, where the goddess Ashtart is carrying out her own plans of breeding the seed of the Serpent. The War of the Seed is rising. Chronicles of the Nephilim is written in the mythic genre of The Lord of the Rings and Narnia, blending fantasy and mythopoeia with history to retell the Biblical narrative with a fresh perspective, while staying true to the original spirit of the story.

  • Muskegon Futures: Vol 4 Dams & Fishes
Muskegon Futures: Dams & Fishes Muskegon Watershed Research Partnership Bulletin 4 Introduction Economic boon, or ecological disaster? Put ten Rogers Dam Muskegon River lovers in a room and you will un- doubtedly find takers for both of these points of view and many in between. One thing is clear, for over 150 years dams have been an integral part of the Muske- gon River ecosystem. The first major dam was built on the Muskegon main stem at Newaygo in 1854 to power a sawmill. Then came a dam at Big Rapids in 1866. The Big Rapids Dam became the river's first hydroelectric station in 1889. Next came Rogers Dam Hardy in 1906 and Croton Dam in 1907. Hardy Dam was Dam built in 1931, and last of all Reedsburg Dam near the Muskegon headwaters was built in 1940. Today Rogers, Hardy, and Croton dams lie at the heart of a sprawling hydropower operation. Together they pro- vide the regional grid with about 46,000 kilowatts of Croton Dam power, with Hardy Dam providing the majority of the generation. Despite the clear economic contributions of the hydropower dams, many people are con- cerned about their impacts on water quality and fish populations in the Muskegon River water- shed. MWRP modeling studies can provide some useful insights on both sides of the argument. The Croton Dam in Newaygo County “The facilities are li- censed to operate through 2034, at which time the structures could be re-licensed, decom- missioned and left in place, or removed from the river.” -Jeff Alexander 2005 “To those who live here, it’s alive, a part of us.

The dam was built in the late 1950s to help reduce downstream flooding, and over the years it has prevented flood damage, but probably never more so than last summer. After Tropical Storm Irene dumped inches and inches of rain on Vermont, some of the communities up the Black River from North Springfield, including Cavendish and Ludlow, sustained heavy damage. Springfield, about three miles down the Black River, escaped almost unscathed.

  • Calvinism & the Bible
Calvinism & the Bible By Brian Godawa Okay, so we all hate categories and boxes. Those of us who believe in the Bible often fancy ourselves above “all those systematic theologies and creeds.” We just believe in the Bible and that's that. Unfortunately, the belief that we do not have a creed is itself a creed about creeds, because “creed” simply means, set of beliefs. You can't escape it. Everyone has a creed, some are just smarter and humbler in recognizing it. We are fooling ourselves if we think we have no “system” of beliefs when it comes to the Bible. The fact is, many smarter men and women have gone before us who believed what we believe, only they were smarter in carrying out those beliefs to a fuller and systematic conclusion. So when a system is called something, whether Pentecostalism, Dispensationalism, Covenantalism or any other “ism” this is simply a designation for that consistently worked out system. Whether we like it or not, our beliefs will always be able to be categorized into some kind of system. So there are no so-called, Simple Bible Believers. There are however, simple- minded Bible believers who do not recognize their own box or system that they fall into. Let us lay aside our arrogance and recognize that EVERYONE claims their belief system is THE Biblical system, including us, and if we are humble enough to research we will find that others have gone before us who had our same beliefs but worked them out better than us. And thus we arrive at Calvinism.
