Iniezione The newsletter of the Northwest Alfa Romeo Club This Article Didn’t Write Itself It Had Help from the October Club Meeting Ever wanted to write an article for the newsletter but didn’t know quite how or where to start? Several budding scribes attended our October 10th club meeting at Wild About Cars Garage to learn from a true professional. Cindy Akana has a strong back- ground in technical and creative writing, and current- ly teaches in the Seattle area on, among other sub- jects, communications skills. The fact that she can keep Fred in line (more or less) is testament to her ability to take charge of a boisterous group. But first, our regular club business included the all-important social greet-and-eat in the inspiring surroundings of Wild About Cars Garage. It’s always fascinating to see what new cars are on display there, and amongst the Porsches, Cobras and Cor- vettes this month the gems included a rare and high- ly-regarded Noble M12 GTO-3R, an English sports/ track car of which only 220 have been imported to the US. Now that would be fun at the Driving School ing an article for publication. This produced a fair in November... amount of nervousness on its own, but its value After a run-through on recent activities, current showed immediately we got up the courage to share status and future attractions from various club board our thoughts, as it turned out everyone was worried members, it was on to the main event. • Press Release: Alfa Romeo Giulietta JTD DCT (February 2012)
ALFA ROMEO AUSTRALIA ALFA ROMEO EXPANDS GIULIETTA WITH AUTO GEARBOX AND DIESEL ENGINE FOR 2012 The 2012 Alfa Romeo Giulietta has arrived in Australia with the advanced TCT twin clutch automatic gearbox and a new Turbo Diesel engine that maintains the Giulietta’s spirited performance but cuts fuel consumption to just 4.5 litres/100 km on the combined fuel consumption test. “The new versions of the Giulietta will take over the majority of sales in Australia for Giulietta,” explains Andre Zaitzev, General Manager of Alfa Romeo in Australia. “In a market dominated by self shifting gearboxes, the fact that we can now offer one of the most advanced units on the market that offers all the advantages of a self shifting gearbox with none of the performance or fuel consumption drawbacks is a very significant change to our market position. For the growing diesel sector we are now also able to offer one of the most advanced diesel power units in the world. What remains unchanged though are the Alfa Romeo essentials, the stylish good looks of the Giulietta, the accomplished chassis and, with a 0-100 kmh time of 7.7 seconds for the petrol TCT and 7.9 seconds for the JDTM Turbo Diesel, clearly both new Giuliettas maintain the performance edge expected of every Alfa Romeo.” Equipped with the next-generation Alfa Romeo TCT twin clutch automatic transmission with shift paddles behind the steering wheel, the latest Alfa Giulietta offers a benchmark in its class in terms of performance, fuel consumption and emissions. Available with either the International Engine of Year Award ‘Best New Engine 2010’, the 1.4 TB MultiAir 125 kW, or the 2.0 JTDM-2 125 kW Turbo Diesel engine, the ALFA TCT range increases the Giulietta’s appeal in both the fleet and consumer sectors.
