Innovation Alliance of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein for the Future Energy System 2 3 www.new4-0.de Innovation alliance of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein for the future energy system 2 3 A unique innovation alliance of businesspersons, scientists and politicians has emerged in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein under the title »NEW 4.0«. In a major cross-regional project, it is to be shown how the region as a whole, with 4.5 million inhabitants, can be solely supplied with regenerative power – 100% safely and reliably – as early as 2035. »NEW« stands for the Northern German Energy Transition (Norddeutsche EnergieWende) and »4.0« describes the threshold of the fourth indus- trial revolution: the digitalisation of industry and the intelligent networking of systems within the framework of the energy transition. The project is planned to last 4 years – from 2016 to 2020. NEW 4.0 aims to implement sustainable energy supply and thus strengthen the sustainability of the region. RPSL Denmark and the Duchy of Schleswig 1587-1920 The Duchy of Schleswig: Background Speed/Kaerius, 1666-68, from “A Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World” The Duchies of Slesvig (Schleswig in German) and Holstein were associated with the Danish Crown from the 15th century, until the Second Schleswig War of 1864 and the seizure by Prussia and Austria. From around 1830 sections of the population began to identify with German or Danish nationality and political movements followed. In Denmark, the National Liberal Party used the Schleswig question as part of their programme and demanded that the Duchy be incorporated in the Danish kingdom under the slogan “Denmark to the Eider". This caused a conflict between Denmark and the German states, which led to the Schleswig-Holstein Question of the 19th century. When the National Liberals came to power in Denmark, in 1848, it provoked an uprising of ethnic Germans who supported Schleswig's ties with Holstein. This led to the First Schleswig War. Denmark was victorious, although more through politics than strength of arms.

    Thomas Munch-Petersen After Poltava: Peter the Great and the problem of Sweden, 1709-1724 As the year 1700 began, Russia held no territory on the Baltic coastline and was a remote and secondary power on the periphery of Europe. In 1814 the position was very different: the whole eastern coastline of the Baltic from Tornio in the north to Courland in the south was under Russian rule, and Russia had become one of the great powers of the European states system into the bargain. This territorial revolution along the eastern littoral of the Baltic was achieved through. three great Russian annexations - the Peace of Nystad in 1721, the partitions of Poland (1774-1795) and the Peace of Fredrikshamn in 1809. The present survey will focus on a particular aspect during an early phase of that larger process: the ways in which Russia responded to the actual or potential problems Sweden presented for Russian security and for Russian interests under Peter the Great. In the seventeenth century, Sweden had confronted Russia with a quite different problem: after the Peace of Stolbova in 1617 Russia had been excluded from the Baltic by a belt of Swedish territory running from Finland to the borders of Poland-Lithuania; and Tsar Peter of Russia joined Denmark and Saxony in attacking Sweden in 1700 in order to achieve access for Russia to the Baltic. That problem was solved, at least in the short term, by the destruction of the Swedish field army in July 1709 at Poltava and by the military and political consequences which flowed from it.

Unversehens sind wir bei der beliebten Hohenzollern-Dämonologie. Selbst der weise Theodor Fontane verwechselte manchmal Hohenzollern-Geister mit dem Geist der Hohenzollern. Die Schwächen Wilhelms II. sind offenkundig, doch Hohenzollern-Dämonologie ist weder bei ihm noch anderen seines Geschlechtes angebracht. Anders als Fontane, wissen wir, wer, wann und wie Juden sechsmilllionenfach „gefressen“ hat. Auch Wilhelm II. gab unbestreitbar dem Ungeist des Antisemitismus nach, und am „Berliner Antisemitismusstreit“ von 1878/79 war der Kaiserhof Wilhelms I. nicht unbeteiligt. Als aber am 9. November 1938 der nationalsozialistische Pöbel Synagogen in Brand setzte, Juden auf offener Straße drangsalierte und liquidierte, sagte Wilhelm II. in seinem niederländischen Exil: Zum ersten Mal in seinem Leben schäme er sich, Deutscher zu sein.1 Nein, der „Weg nach Auschwitz“ führte gerade nicht vom bald tausendjährigen Geschlecht der Hohenzollern zu Hitlers “Tausendjährigem Reich“. Die Geschichte der Hohenzollern beginnt vor dem Ersten Kreuzzug. Von 1061 bis heute, 950 nachweisbare Hohenzollern-Jahre. Was für eine Leistung: allein das lange Überleben. In Anlehnung an Großmeister Goethe, könnte man den Hohenzollern zurufen: Von damals bis heute gingen viele neue Epochen der Weltgeschichte aus, „und ihr könnt sagen, ihr seid dabei gewesen.“ Und Sie, meine Damen und Herren, sind dabei, wenn 950 Hohenzollern-Jahre in 45 Minuten gepresst werden.
