Job Announcement Principal at St. Catholic School Napa, California Starting July 1, 2017

Our Mission: St. John the Baptist Catholic School is an educational ministry of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Napa, California. We offer a challenging academic program in a safe, stimulating and Christ-centered community. Our faculty, in cooperation with parents and parish, provides our students in opportunities, values and experiences to become conscientious and contributing members of society.

Our School: St. John the Baptist Catholic School is an educational ministry of St. John the Baptist Parish located in the Diocese of Santa Rosa. We serve approximately 165 students in grades K-8. Our school was founded in 1912 and is housed in a beautifully renovated historic building located in the thriving downtown region of Napa. We are proud to reflect the community we serve and represent one of the most ethnically and economically diverse communities in the diocese. We are fully accredited by Western Catholic Educational Association and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Position: The principal is the spiritual, instructional, and administrative head of the school, and is responsible for the effective operation of the school as a Catholic educational institution. He/she is the primary agent for creating an environment that fosters academic excellence, Catholic faith formation, vitality and viability. He/she is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for all members of the school community (faculty, staff, students, parents and parishioners) and a climate that encourages the engagement of each student in the learning process while fostering a love for learning. In addition, he/she serves as a member of the pastoral team of St. John the Baptist parish.

Minimum Qualifications include:  Practicing Roman Catholic  California Teaching Credential or other base California Service Credential  Minimum of 5 years teaching and/or administrative experience  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications include:  California Education Administrative Service Credential or be willing to start the process to earn his/her California Administrative Service Credential.  Master’s degree or equivalent  A solid background in curriculum and instruction  Sound fiscal management experience, including fundraising  Collaborative, inclusive, and engaged leadership style  Strategic, visionary, and transformational  Diplomacy and the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders  Spanish speaking is a plus

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits are available through the diocesan benefits plan.
