As a result of a close partnership, the annual Global China Business Meeting is regarded as one of the foremost annual gatherings of Chinese business leaders and their global counterparts. A select group of global leaders will gather to create a powerful platform for cooperation between China and the rest of the world. Senior executives from around the world will discuss Chinese firms’ growing impact on global business. Participants will also examine the state of the global economy and China’s role in shaping the post-crisis world. It is my sincere hope that this Global China Business Meeting will further promote win-win economic relations, stimulate innovation and provide business opportunities for corporations from China and the world. I wish you a thought-provoking and exceptional meeting Dr. Frank-Jürgen Richter Chairman Horasis: The Global Visions Community Switzerland 2 Welcome Dear participants, It is with great pleasure that the Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion, the largest private Dutch organization for the promotion of trade and investment relations with foreign countries, is co-hosting the 9th Global China Business Meeting. We would like to welcome all Chinese participants in Mandarin: 欢迎 我很 高兴见到您们 , as well as extend a warm welcome to the many international and Dutch companies that are represented here today. Furthermore, we would like to express a special thank you to Mr. Frank Richter, President of Horasis, for having selected the Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion as co-host and the city of The Hague as the meeting point for hundreds of the most influential well known international companies . The Netherlands and China: trade is part of our DNA The Netherlands is very well aware of the potential which Chinese investors can bring in terms of future developments and is therefore more than willing to compete with other European countries for China’s attention. Chinese investors currently are more attracted to regions with tax systems that are stimulating foreign investment initiatives, providing more flexibility for potential employees and offering high levels of education. Other attractive features would be an already existing Chinese community in the area. We embrace and are proud of the more than 300 Chinese companies already located in The Netherlands, which serves as the gateway to Europe due to its excellent infrastructure with Europe’s largest port – Rotterdam – and the fourth largest airport – Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Transportation costs for intercontinental sources through these main ports are low and connections to other European regions by land and water are excellent. Fiscal incentives and a strongly skilled labor force are important, too. The Netherlands offers a low corporate tax rate and has signed the largest number of tax treaties with many countries around the world. Dutch workers are highly educated, multilingual and flexible. We are confident that the in-depth discussions and networking at this year’s Global China Business Meeting will create new partnerships and precipitate new thinking. Warm regards, Jochum Haakma Dr. Jan Siemons Chairman Board of Directors NCH Managing Director NCH Chairman of the China Council NCH 3 Welcome Welcome to The Hague, the political centre of the Netherlands and International City of Peace and Justice.
