Anderdon, Jelks, Lowe and Small 10/03.01 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING The minutes of the meeting held on 3 September 2003, having been circulated, were taken as read and were duly agreed and signed by the Chairman. 10/03.02 AQMA (Air Quality) - DISCUSSION ON ACTION PLAN The Chairman introduced Nigel Kerr and Ashley Parker from Taunton Deane Air Quality Management team. (Nigel is the Principal Officer, Housing and Environmental Protection and Ashley is the air quality expert.) Nigel explained that under the 1995 Environment Act the secretary of State has to produce a strategy for reviewing and assessing Air Quality. There is therefore a need to review the 7 specific pollutants associated with emissions to atmosphere from transport and transport. This has been undertaken in 3 stages. Stage One results showed that 4 out of 7 pollutants needed to be looked at in more detail in Stage Two. Stage Two results showed that only N02 remained suspect and that only because of the M5 Motorway. Stage Three was carved out in 2000, for N02 only. Concluding that the M5 was not a problem. However monitoring will continue to confirm the findings. This monitoring indicated the likelihood of N02 hotspots and the result of a supplementary report concluded that certain small areas of Henlade and East Reach are likely to exceed the, Government targets for 2005.

    Issue No. 109 August 31st 20165 The Kingsdon Festival & Fete The three day Festival was once again a great success with exciting and diverse music on all three nights. Evening on Day 1 had the delightful Breeze entertain us with her beauti- ful voice, many have asked if we can have her back for the next Festival. Saturday Evening Day 2 and the fabulous Kingsdon Big Band, arranged by our own Keith Thomas, entertained us. The 15 brilliant musicians were accompanied by the delightful and enchanting voice of Heather Wensley. Heather’s extensive per- forming experience ranges from five star hotels, in the Mediterranean, to jazz clubs and session work, per- forming bossa nova, soul, jazz, folk and big band swing; influenced by artists as diverse as Ella Fitzger- ald, Nina Simone and Chaka Khan. This was the 4th performance of the Kingsdon Big Band here in Kingsdon since their first performance in 2002 for the Queens Golden Jubilee. Will we see the Big Band next year? Watch this space! Keith Thomas - Kingsdon Festival Director of Music Well done Keith. Sunday evening, Day 3 and the evening’s entertain- ment was the Rock & Blues Band, BA22. BA22 are Rock and Blues band based in Yeovil. They have an extensive set list of covers from the 60's to the present day, including tracks from The Beatles, The Kinks, Thin Lizzy, The Stones, Wishbone Ash, Gary Moore, King of Leon, Bryan Adams and many more, along with some out- standing original material. A selection of photos showing some of the visiting vehicles, the contestants in the very popular dog show, hosted by Julian Hutt, sponsored by Runner Duck Pet & Poultry Supplies.

Recommendation That members note the report. Capital funded Surface Dressing schemes 2015 Surface Dressing is the practice of applying a bitumen tack coat to the existing road surface and then rolling in stone chippings. Whilst this practice is not the most PR friendly, it is highly effective in preserving the integrity of the road surface. This year we are Surface Dressing 53 sites across South Somerset, 13 of which are substantial lengths of A and B roads. The Surface Dressing within South Somerset has already commenced and is due completion by the end of June. This end of year report explains where the money came from and how it was spent. It also gives information about projects that have been delayed or had their funding moved to other activities. These details have been provided because the SRA wants people to know what it has achieved across the county – and it wants to be properly accountable. The SRA raises extra money to deliver extra work. Schemes are prioritised for SRA funding on the basis of the main objectives in Somerset’s 20 Year Flood Action Plan, which was developed in response to the floods of winter 2013-14. This report is divided into two sections. Performance covers delivery overall and by funding source, plus a table summarising 2016-17 finance; Progress gives more details about major projects, and smaller actions grouped according to SRA workstream – Dredging & River Management, Land Management, Urban Water Management, Resilient Infrastructure and Building Community Resilience. Somerset’s approach is uniquely joined-up. This report details just one year of the SRA’s extra work.
