The Script: #3 By Isaac Chen The band : The Script is a rock band formed with only three members, Danny O’Donoghue as the lead vocalist and keyboardist, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan and the drummer Glen Power. It was formed in 2008 in Dublin, Ireland. Danny was born on Oct 9,1979, Dublin, Ireland. Danny’s father was also a member to the band The Dreams. Danny and Mark were originally members of the 1990’s band Mytown, they later moved to LA to write songs and produce for artists like Britney Spears, Boyz ll Men…. Glen Power was born on July 5th, 1980. He primarily plays drums in the band and he was inspired by his mother to play drums. Glen started playing drums at the age of 8, by the age of 16 he started playing professionally in Ireland. Mark Sheehan, born on July 5th, 1980(same birthday with Glen Power). Lead guitar and backing vocals. He invited Glen to LA to meet Danny and later on they formed the band. The band started off releasing its first album “The Script”, which had peaked #1 in Ireland and the UK. The next three album they made had also topped the album chart in Ireland and the UK , consisting “Science and Faith”, “#3”, and “No Sound Without Silence”. Remarkably, the album “Science and Faith” also made it to the 3rd in the United States. Among their albums, the one that I would like to share their third album “#3”. “#3”: This is their third album released on September 7, 2012.

METAFORA PADA LIRIK-LIRIK LAGU DALAM ALBUM NO SOUND WITHOUT SILENCE KARYA THE SCRIPT JURNAL SKRIPSI Diajukan sebagai salah satu syarat Mencapai gelar Sarjana Sastra Oleh: DELSIUS GARING 100912050 SASTRA INGGRIS UNIVERSITAS SAM RATULANGI FAKULTAS ILMU BUDAYA MANADO 2016 1 ABSTRACT This research is entitled “Metaphor in the Song Lyrics of the Album No Sound without Silence by The Script”. There are two problems to answer in the analysis. First is what are the types of metaphor found in The Script songs No Sound without Silence album. The second one is what the meaning of the song lyrics in The Script Album No Sound without Silence. This study uses descriptive method. The data sources used in this study are the lyrics of the 12 songs by The Script on No Sound without Silence album. This study uses the theory of Leech (1984) and Lakoff and Johnson (1980). The result reveals that there are 40 metaphors found in the Album No Sound without Silence by The Script. It can be categorized into concretive metaphor, humanizing metaphor, animistic metaphor and synesthetic metaphor. Those metaphors are divided into 32 lines of concretive metaphor, 6 lines of humanizing metaphor, 1 line of animistic metaphor and 3 lines of synesthetic metaphor. Concretive metaphor is mostly used in this album. The songwriter uses the metaphor to add some elegance to the song. In addition the messages of each song were shown by the use of metaphor. In analyzing the meaning, Lakoff and Johnson‟s theory about target and source was used. Target refers to the idea or principal subject of metaphor while source refer to the thing that has been equalizer.

Source: link The Script is coming back to Singapore next month on 12th April 2018. I mean, finally! Their last Singapore concert stop was in 2015 on their No Sound Without Silence tour. Okay so correct me if I am wrong but I think that The Script has been losing popularity in Singapore over the past couple years. I don’t know why but it is quite sad since they are really damn talented and have an insane amount of great songs. Fear not if you’ve been out of touch with The Script for a while as I will be listing down 10 of their songs that you might want to listen to before their concert. Perhaps listen enough so that you can at least lip sync or mouth the lyrics while they’re performing. Fact is you might actually know these songs once you listen to it! It happens! You know the song but you don’t really know the artist behind it… It happens too many times for me jeez. So yes, listen to these 10 songs before the concert and hopefully, they might be in the Singapore’s concert setlist! People can see the literary work is positive or negative depends on the way up. As for the literary work itself can not be separated with the man. Literary works with human beings are inseparable because each step of a human surrounded with a literary work that contains the values of life. As the value of the customs, or the teachings of the society containing literary works. As for the problem of why literary works cannot be separated from the human is due to the absence of humans, perhaps literary works that are not likely to exist. Good writer or literary connoisseurs realize it. Therefore, as a writer or literary supporters too much the beauty of literature with positive values in them so that the beauty of literature itself enjoyed by connoisseurs of literature. According to Ratna (2005:312), the nature of literary works is fiction or more often called imagination. Imagination in literary works is imagination based on reality. The imagination also in someone else imagination. Despite the fact that literature is fiction, literary works are constructed on the basis of reality. Literature is divided into three types, including prose, poetry, and drama. In this case the author took a kind of poetry in writing. But the poem in the shape of song lyrics.
