La classifica dei test è consultabile al sito: www.lemans.org –> chronos TEST Le Mans (FRA), Sunday 04th June 2006 The BMS Scuderia Italia shows a strong reliability and is 1st within the Pirelli cars One week only before the start of the most prestigious and awaited race in the sportsworld, the BMS Scuderia Italia prepares itself for the demanding French circuit. 8 hours of a meticulous work on the Aston Martin DBR9 which uses Pirelli tyres brought to the team a huge quantity of precious data. In particular the team’s programme was based on some aspects such as: aerodynamic, brakes, tyres, behaviour of the DBR9 with full fuel tank and, of course, one of the team’s focus was to test the reliability of the car, which has a particular importance in an endurance race. Babini, Gollin and Pescatori, who will share the Italian car BMS #69 in this 2006 edition, found out a very good balance which basically suits well to all of the three drivers. During the 8 test hours the #69 DBR9, 2nd of the category within the Pirelli cars, maintained a good reliability level crossing the chequered flag in a best 6th position of the category. Fabio BABINI “Well, we did a great job and this long day gave us a lot of important data. Sincerely we preferred to work for the race and we tested different mechanical solutions and many sets of tyres. One of our main aim was to test the various type of tyres that Pirelli supplied us for high and low track temperatures.” Fabrizio GOLLIN “I’m more satisfied than last year. We are in a better situation from many points of view: the car and the tyres. Me, Fabio and Christian have the same feeling with the car and this is very positive for an endurance race, especially the 24 Hours of Le Mans.” Christian PESCATORI “The car is good and I had a good feeling since the first laps. In particular it showed a good stability in the brakings and along the fast parts of the circuit.” Marco GADOLA, technical director “We can be satisfied as we have worked basically on a race configuration and with full fuel tank. We haven’t had any problem and the car allowed the drivers to maintain a very good rhythm.” The final classification can be found at: www.lemans.org –> chronos.

IN TOUCH THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF DUNLOP MOTORSPORT [ www.injection.tv ] LE MANS RACE EDITION Dunlop came away from the Le Mans 24 hours delighted with the performance of its dry and light wet tyres after a difficult race in which the changing condi- tions contributed to the overall result. “We were pretty competitive in all conditions other than full wet conditions,” says Dunlop’s chief tyre technician Matthew Simpson of the LMP2 tyres. “On the slick tyres and the light wet tyres, we had a performance advantage, but in full wet conditions we struggled to get temperature into our compounds. The Essex car had engine trouble so we were never going to do better than we did, but we have to look at the tyre perform- ance in wet conditions and make it better. “The Virgo Ferrari team were very strong and our development construction at the rear allowed us to double stint safely. There was no sign of difficulty in doing so, and there was zero deterioration from the first lap to the last in a double stint, according to the drivers. Le Mans podiums for Essex Perhaps we could have triple stinted, but we didn’t test that before the race and during the race was not the time to try. Porsche and Farnbacher Ferrari “The Creation team had four punctures and three of them were caused by debris. There was not enough left of the tyre to establish the cause of the fourth.” The 2008 edition of the Le Mans 24 hours produced was difficult to drive because sometimes the power was everything from a record breaking qualifying and race there, other times it wasn’t and we couldn’t know what to John Nielsen, Casper Elgaard and Sascha Maassen pace, a record crowd of 258,500 turning out in eager expect.

Key Features One of only 10 works DBR9 GT1 built Led Aston Martin Racing BMS to a 2nd place GT1 Team Championship finish In excellent condition throughout with spares & running tools Offered with its original chassis tub Eligible for Masters’ and Peter Auto’s Endurance Racing Legends race series Description Born of the burgeoning production-based GT category in Europe and America, and marking Aston Martin's first return to international racing since 1989 with the Group C AMR1, the DBR9 took a remarkable victory on its 2005 race debut in the arduous Sebring 12 Hours. Upsetting the favored and tried-and-tested Chevrolet applecart by beating the new Corvette C6.Rs, the striking British machine finished fourth overall and first in the GT1 class, and topped it all by setting fastest lap. The Chevrolets took 2nd and 3rd. It was a remarkable result given that Aston Martin Racing was merely hoping for its DBR9s just to finish the grueling event in what was a test and development year; one in which a privateer DBR9 would also go on to win GT1 in the Nürburgring 1000KM and take overall victory in the FIA GT Championship round at Bahrain. Initial development of the DBR9 had only begun late in mid-2004. Based on the DB9 road car, and publicly unveiled in November the same year, it was the result of what has remained an enduring partnership between Aston Martin and Banbury, England-based Prodrive, the renowned race/rally preparation specialist founded and owned by ex-World Rally Championship-winning navigator David Richards, with AMR wholly owned by Prodrive and solely responsible for design, development, and management of the racing program.
