JENA on first place for birth rate in Thuringia With 10.4 births per 1,000 inhabitants Jena’s birth rate lies above the German average of 9.7 (2016). Jena is the only city in Thuringia that grows not only through new residents but also due to the high birth rate (> higher than mortality rate) – since 2006.
