With that statistic in mind, the CSAC announced the launch of the 2008 Cal Grant Campaign Wednesday, which offers middle and low-income California students free cash for college and career training. Cal Grants are similar to Pell Grants, but are funded by California and not federally like Pell Grants. The grants have been available for more than 10 years, and are accessible to anyone who graduated high school while living in California. To apply for a Cal Grant, students must submit forms before the March 2 deadline. Cal Grants do not have to be paid back, and students can earn up to $9,700 each year.
