24 © Leonardo - Società per azioni Focus on Trinidad and Tobago experience

Trinidad LeadInSky ATM system offers a high level of modularity, as befitting a modern ATC system. This modularity gives the system expansion capability enabling it to support future enhancements. Hardware/software standardization is substantially used in the global system configuration. This combination of standardization and modularity have a beneficial impact on the cost effectiveness of the equipment and life cycle costs. In particular the updated system will provide the following main benefits: • Handling of ATS Inter-facility Data Communications (AIDC v.03.00), compliant with future ECAR operation; • Improve Piarco, Santa Maria and New York with AIDC coordination; • Redesign of the Oceanic, Continental and Approach Airspace Relating to New Routes and Sectors • Integration of Barbados’s surveillance data (Radar, MLAT and ADS-B); • integration of Guyana’s ADS-B data; • Integration of Martinique and Guadalupe radar data; • Distribution of Surveillance data (ASTERIX Cat. 62/65) to E-CAR network; • …. and many others. 25 © Leonardo - Società per azioni Focus on Barbados experience

Barbados LeadInSky ATM system offers an example for E-CAR system harmonisation and standardization thanks to its high level of standardization. The Barbados ATC system receives surveillance data from all the available sensors (MSSR, WAM/ADS-B, MLAT, Trinidad combined Multiradar data flow) and provides interoperability for regional (Radar) data sharing by providing a source for distribution over the Eastern Caribbean Multi-Protocol Label Switch (MPLS) Network to the neighbouring Trinidad ACC. The System implement the following data interfaces capabilities:

Surveillance Data: Existing Barbados Dual Channel Raytheon MSSR – Asterix Cat 02 N. 7 WAM/ADS-B ground station located at the available sites in Barbados, as reported during the site survey – Asterix Cat 19, 20/21; Combined Radar data feed from neighbouring islands (Trinidad & Martinique) – Asterix Cat 62; N. 5 MLAT ground station located at the available sites in Grantley Adams International Airport, as The system is also predisposed to the following interfaces: reported during the site survey – Asterix Cat 19, 20/21; The system is predisposed to receive Weather Radar Flight Data: AFTN/AMHS, OLDI/AIDC, AUP/UUP, ADEXP data – Asterix Cat 08; Meteo Data: QNH, GRIB, NOTAMs Messages MET/AIS (METAR, SPECI, TAF, SIGMET, ATIS, AIRMET, SNOWTAM, GAMET) Implemented protocols: Air-Ground data link: ADS-C, CPDLC, DCL ACARS, ATN Interface Ethernet IPv4 et IPv6; SITA, ARINC, ADCC FANS / ATN UDP/ IP, TCP/IP; 26 © Leonardo - Società per azioni RS232 synchronous data from Sunhillo RICI. FDP ATM is one of the most demanding domain for all the software-intensive BIL CWP systems. It is safety critical, near real time and highly distributed. For this reason, the LeadInSky ATM System has been designed as a distributed system with the following architectural characteristics: STAT ATFM ° High Availability , achieved by: • Fault Tolerance tactics through HW and SW “redundancy”, and TMCS AGDL “Degraded Mode” solutions that minimize the impact of ATC operations unavailability ° High Performance , achieved by: • Increase of the efficiency through the maximum distribution of the SUP GGDL computational load on the nodes SWIM ° Modifiability/Scalability and Usability , achieved by: • Separation of the ATC business applications from the general purpose ones (e.g. middleware) with well defined responsibility EDM CORM and interfaces, thus reduced “ripple effect”
