Es gibt da dieses Foto, das unter dem Titel «A Great Day in Harlem» verkauft wird: Aufgenommen wurde es am 12. August 1958, vor fast genau sechzig Jahre also. Und zu sehen sind 57 Jazzmusiker (darunter doch immerhin drei (!) Frauen) von Henry Red Allen bis Lester Young. Was zeigt: 1958 war eines der besten Jahre des Jazz, die grossen Alten waren noch voll im Saft und die neue Generation stand bereit. Late Night Jazz bildet 1958 musikalisch ab.
