3.6.3 Number of Extension and Outreach Programs Conducted In 3.6.3 Number of extension and outreach programs conducted in collaboration with industry, community and Non-Government Organizations through NSS/NCC/Red cross/YRC etc., during the last five years ACTIVITIES BY NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS),Rotaract Club and HRD Club DURING THE YEAR 2013 to 2018 (Samples) WORLD’S BIGGEST HI-5 150 Nos. of Volunteers, Faculty members of Rotract Club of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated in the “World’s Biggest HI-5” event which is a part of flag march leading towards a Guinness approved “Hand Formation” held on 5th October 2013. The event was organized by rotary district 3230 at YMCA nandanam Chennai. The theme of event was “We are the CHANGE”. Over 8000 young students participated in the event which is the world’s biggest Hi5. ACTIVITIES AT ORPHANAGE (UDHAVUM ULLANGAL) 35 Nos. of HRD Club Volunteers, Faculty members Ms.Vandhana devi(Asst.Prof),Ms.Rocky devi(Asst.Prof) of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated in Udhavum Ullangal Orphanage on 28th September 2013 Tutoring Youth with Learning Difficulties Pass our skills and knowledge to a free private lesson in subjects Activities in Udhavum Ullangal Orphanage on 28th September 2013 AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON RIGHT TO VOTE NSS unit organised awareness program a rally on 16th March 2014 towards “Right to vote” at Kovalam Beach. 45 Nos. of NSS Volunteers, Faculty members and Coordinator Dr. N.Hajara Beevi of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated in Right to vote awareness program . Awareness program a rally on 16th March 2014 TREE PLANTATION DRIVE 45 Nos.of NSS Volunteers, Faculty members and Coordinator Dr. N.Hajara Beevi of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated in Tree Plantation drive in Kumizhi village on 06.09.2014. Around 150 trees were planted in the Lake. Tree plantation on 06.09.2014 at Kumizhi village VISIT OF MENTALLY CHALLENGED ORPHANS TO ZOO 35 Nos.of Youth Red Cross Society Volunteers, Faculty members and Coordinator Dr. Aravind of B. S. Abdur Rahman University Visit of mentally challenged orphans of Bhawsadeepam home, Tambaram to Zoo on 7th March 2015 Visit of mentally challenged orphans of Bhawsadeepam home, Tambaram to Zoo on 7th March 2015 FLOOD RELIEF AND MEDICAL CAMP 120 Nos. of Crescent Blood Donors Volunteers, Faculty members of B. S. Abdur Rahman University actively involved in Relief Operations were mainly conducted around Urapakkam, Mudichur and Nanganallur during 8 November 2015 to 14 November 2015 Countless food packets, bed sheets and various other necessities were distributed by CBD volunteers. Towing of submerged vehicles to the university was also done by the volunteers. Nearly 100 medical camps were conducted at the flood affected areas by CBD along with UNWO. Nearly 2000 persons were given the medical assistance. Relief Operations Food Distribution COMPUTER TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR SUB INSPECTORS Faculty Training Academy of B.S.Abdur Rahman University undertook the responsibility of training the Sub-Inspector Cadets of the Tamil Nadu Police Academy in ICT tools. 1033 cadets were trained over a span of 3 months. The training took place from 22 August 2016 to 21 November 2016 spanning nearly 240 hours of work in the lab. The training programme is being conducted at B.S.Abdur Rahman University, Vandalur. The Computer training programme is being conducted for both women and men S.I at B.S.Abdur Rahman University, Vandalur BIKE RALLY TO PROMOTE BLOOD DONATION AND TREE PLANTING 65 Nos.of Crescent Blood Donors Volunteers of B. S. Abdur Rahman University conducted a bike rally to promote blood donation and tree planting. A 50 km ride in the busy streets of Vandalur by three major bikers group in Chennai on 18.02.2016 Leading the rally CYCLOTHON (TOUR DE CRESCENT) BSAU Alumni Association conducted cyclothon as a name of Tour De Crescent for A GO GREEN INTIATIVE on April 24, 2016. The Start Point (Madhya Kailash junction, Chennai) at 5:00 a.m. and also at the End Point (BSAUniversity, Vandalur) at 8:00 a.m. on that day. More than 350 enthusiasts participated in the Cyclothon event. From L –R : Dr.V.M.Periasamy ,Vice Chancllor, Mr.Abdul Qadir Abdul Rahman Buhari ,Chairman and faculty members of B.S.Abdur Rahman University FLOOD RELIEF FOR KERALA The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) of our institution together collected different household materials for sending it to the flood affected areas of Kerala. Contributed various items immensely. Items like foods stuffs, stationeries, new dresses, medicines, etc together consist of more than 360kg totally worth around 1.5 lakhs were sent to Kerala on 20th of August 2017 evening by Chennai – Mangalore mail. 35 Nos.of NSS Volunteers and 15 YRC Volunteers, Vice Chancellor, Registrar ,Deputy Registrar, Faculty members and Coordinator Dr. N.Hajara Beevi of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated Different household materials for sending it to the flood affected areas of Kerala ACTIVITIES AT OLD AGE HOME On 15.07.2017, a group of NSS Volunteers went to AKSHAYA HOME, a home for old age people and spent time with them for activities. 55 Nos. of NSS Volunteers, Faculty members and Coordinator Dr. N.Hajara Beevi of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated Activities at old age home On 15.07.2017 ARASANKALANI LAKE CLEANING As a part of our NSS regular activity, 35 students from our NSS UNIT I and UNIT II in association with Environmental Foundation of India (EFI) on Saturday, 28.07.2018 cleaned some part of Arasankalani Lake The main motivation of this programme is to create awareness about the welfare of our environment. Mr.Pavithran from EFI gave a brief introduction about the connectivity of different lakes in Chennai. 35 NSS Volunteers, Faculty members and Coordinator Dr. N.Hajara Beevi of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated. Lake Cleaning ANTI DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMME As a part of induction training programme, Anti drug awareness programme organised on 16.07.2018 for B.Tech (AERO, AUTO, POLY, CSE ) students. Mr. Moses Selvakumar, Asst. prof (Madras School of Social Work) delivered the lecture to the students. 35 Nos.of NSS Volunteers, Faculty members and Coordinator Dr. N.Hajara Beevi of B. S. Abdur Rahman University participated Lecture delivered by Mr. Moses Selvakumar OPEN HOUSE EXHIBITION 2014 Open House& Exhibition” held on 30th & 31st March 2014 in B.S.Abdur Rahman University. During the two days, our campus was very lively with so many exciting and interesting project models, exhibits and innovative displays which attracted more than 2200 visitors which includes 25 Schools in and around Chennai. The Open House & Exhibition had showcased the Technological developments and Advancements in the fields of Science, Engineering and Technology The Student Volunteers interaction with School Students to demonstrate the equipments and Working Principles The Student Volunteers interaction with School Students to demonstrate the equipments and Working Principles The Student Volunteers interaction with School Students to demonstrate the equipments and Working Principles CARRIER GUIDENCE PROGRAMME FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS On 31st March 2014 in B.S.Abdur Rahman University, Carrier guidence programme for school students conducted and 350 No.of students from various schools were participated. As part of the concern towards environment and societal benefit and to create an awareness among the general public, the students of the university came together in achieving this milestone. Note: The final logo measured 45ft by 75ft. INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION Our Indian Flag hosted by Dr.Haji sheik Mohamed, Dean(Academic Affair) & Registrar i/c on 15.08.2017 From L – R : Dr.Avvai, Director(Physical Education),Dr.John, Mr.VNA Jalal, Gereral Manager and Dr.Syed Masood, Dean(Islamic Studies)of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology.     INDUSTRIES DEPARTMENT POLICY NOTE – 2007-2008 INTRODUCTION Tamil Nadu’s economy has witnessed remarkable growth in the past one year. This growth has been especially remarkable in the manufacturing sector. Basic reasons for this exceptional industrial growth are well known. Due to progressive policies of Government of India, the Indian economy has grown rapidly. Business friendly policies and proactive initiatives of the State Government have contributed to economic resurgence of the State. State Government’s focused policy and support are key factors behind setting up of important industries in Tamil Nadu. Owing to setting up of new industries in the past one year, multi faceted development has taken place and in continuation of that, employment opportunities and investment have increased. Services sector, industrial infrastructure like roads, water supply, railways, industrial parks have received special attention of the Government. Special Economic Zones (SEZ) have become key drivers of the State economy. In the last 12 months, MoUs have been signed by the State Government through Industries Department with 8 industrial houses/multinational companies for setting up of Industrial projects to the tune of Rs.6985 crores. Of these, substantial investments have been made in Electronic and Automobile sectors. Due to investments in these two sectors, Chennai has become a prime investment destination in India. Investment of Rs.4,000 crores by M/s. Mahindra and Mahindra in joint venture with Renault of France and Nissan of Japan in the Automobile Sector is the crown among proposed investments. All these MoU projects are under various stages of rapid implementation. Transparent procedures of the Government, fast decision-making, ability to remove bottlenecks, single window clearance for implementation of projects have been key factors behind speedy implementation of projects and investor confidence.

Transport noise is an increasingly prominent feature of the urban environment making noise pollution an important public health issue. Road traffic is a key source of noise in big metro cities like Chennai. The present study is conducted to know levels of noise pollution at Madhya kailash junction, Chennai. It has been recognized as major urban pollutant and become a very important stress factor to the environment. Though in urban cities it is steadily increasing over the years, surprisingly noise pollution data collection in India is very scanty. Based on previous surveys it has been revealed that noise levels in urban areas are generally higher than the prescribed limit given by CPCB (Vidyasagar and Rao, 2006).

The housing market has struggled with the liquidity crisis that struck at the very foundations of the industry, and it has been limping along ever since. Demand has been sluggish; builders are playing it safe as inventories have remained stationary. The sluggish growth of the Indian economy has also been a deterrent along with Financiers being nervous about lending to developers due to increasing NPAs. In 2019, the government announced a slew of policies and measures to provide a shot in the arm for the sector. These measures are expected to be an essential facilitator in bringing back stability within the industry. However, as with all long-term propositions, it will take time to see their impact – most likely from the second half of 2020. The new launch supply across the top seven cities of India increased by 21% in 2019 as against the preceding year.
