A meeting of the Academic Council was held in Sir Cowasjee Jehanghier Hall (Convocation Hall) on Monday, 29th April, 2013 at 2 pm when the following members were present :-

Item 1 During the confirmation of minutes of the meeting of Academic Council held on 27th February, 2013 the members suggested that item no 3.13 was accepted and accordingly as per the recommendations in the report of the high power committee, to decide which section 92 or section 5(46) needs to be implemented, legal advice be taken by the University and in accordance therewith, subsequent legal action should be taken by the University. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor left the meeting during this discussion and rejoined the meeting when the discussion and resolution on this item was over.

The members further suggested that in the LIC recommendations on item no. 3.2, 3.3, 3.20 and 8.2, proper procedure should be followed.

It was resolved that the minutes of the meeting of Academic Council held on 27th February, 2013 be confirmed after the suggestions made by the members are incorporated in the minutes. 4.1 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Mathematics for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.Sc./ B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.2 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Rural Development for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.3 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in

the course of Ancient Indian Culture for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.4 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Geography for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.5 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Statistics for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14.

4.6 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Kannanda for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14.

(M.P.Ed.) programme be as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.10 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for MA programme in course of Television Studies be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.11

4.14 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for

Diploma programme in course of Religion and Society, Peace and Dialogue be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.15 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the revised syllabus for M.Phil. programme in course of History be as per appendix and that the same be brought into force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.16 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the revised syllabus for M.Phil. programme in course of Gujarati be as per appendix and that the same be brought into force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.17 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the revised syllabus for M.Phil. programme in course of Mathematics be as per appendix and that the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.18 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for Advance Career Oriented programme in course of Rural Development be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.19

4.20 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for Certificate programme in course of Functional proficiency in English be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14.

4.21 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for Certificate programme in course of Professional proficiency in English be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.22

Based Semester and Grading System for Certificate programme in Understanding literature and Cinematic text for Children from 8 to 15 years be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.24

4.25 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Philosophy for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.26 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Gujarati for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14.

4.27 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Gujarati for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.28 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Hindi for Papers. IV, V and VI of Sem. V of B.A. programme be

revised as per appendix and that same be brought in to force w.e.f. academic year 2013-14. 4.28A It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Hindi for Papers VII, VIII and IX of sem. V. of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that same be brought in to force w.e.f. academic year 2013-14. 4.29 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of History for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.30 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for Sem. I and Sem. II of B.P.Ed. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.31 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Marathi for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.32 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Sanskrit for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14.

4.33 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of English for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14.

4.34 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Pali for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.35 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Psychology for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14.

4.36 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of AIC for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.37 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Sociology for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.38 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Economics for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.39 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of French for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.40

V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.41 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Urdu for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.42 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Philosophy for Sem III & Sem IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.43 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Kannada for Sem III & Sem IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.44 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Mathematics for Sem I & Sem II of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.44A It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Mathematics for Sem III & Sem IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14.

It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Politics for Sem. I to Sem. IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.46 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Hindi for Sem I & Sem II of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.46A It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Hindi for Sem III & Sem IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.47 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of History for Sem III & Sem IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14.

programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.50 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of English (Hon.) for Sem I & Sem II of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.51 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of Economics for Sem I, II, III and IV of MA programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.52 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of French (Hon.) for Sem I to Sem IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.53 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the course of French for Sem. III and Sem. IV of M.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought into force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.54 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Regulation 8610 be amended as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013- 14. 4.55 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in

accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Regulation 8616 be amended as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013- 14.

4.56 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Regulation 8617 be deleted and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.59 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the change in the allotment of credits (Credits of project work being transferred to Core subjects) for Sem. V and Sem. VI of B.A. programme be as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.60 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System in the Core Courses (Major Elective) of Psychology for Sem. I and Sem. II of B.A. programme be revised as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from the academic year 2013-14.

4.61 It was resolved that the recommendations made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and in accordance there with the Revised Pattern of Question Paper for Semester End Assessment at sem III and IV of B.A. programme for all Psychology courses - Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Health Psychology, Psychology of Adjustment and Stress Management be as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.62 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and in accordance there with the Internal Assessment for Semester I and II for MA programme in Psychology be as per appendix and that the same be brought in to force with effect from academic year 2013-14. 4.63

It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for BA programme in course of Television and New Media Production be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force w.e.f. 2013-14. 4.64 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for MA programme in course of Entertainment Media and Advertising be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.65 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council, that Ordinances, Regulations and syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for MA programme in course of Television and New Media Production be introduced as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.66 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, it be recommended to the Management Council the regulation regarding the Fee structure for UG and PG Programmes in the Course of Dance be as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.67 It was resolved that recommendation of Ad-hoc Board of Studies in Dance be accepted, and in accordance therewith, the change in question paper pattern for Foundation-II, B.P.A. Dance Part –I, Part –II and Final Year Degree & MPA Part-II be as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.68 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Arts at its meeting held on 16th March, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the Question paper pattern for paper I of “Choreography & Movement Studies” of M.P.A. (Dance) Part-II be amended as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.69

It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Technology at its meeting held on 22nd April, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for sem . III and IV of B.E. programme in course of Automobile Engineering be amended as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.70 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Technology at its meeting held on 22nd April, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for sem. III and IV of B.E. programme in course of Biomedical Engineering be amended as per appendix and the same be brought into force with effect from the academic year 2013-14. 4.71 It was resolved that the recommendation made by the Faculty of Technology at its meeting held on 22nd April, 2013 be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the syllabus as per Credit Based Semester and Grading System for sem . Sane appointed by the Academic Council regarding Ph.D. Entrance Test, it was resolved that a committee of Deans of all Faculties be formed to decide about the equivalent subjects of the PET exam and then place it before the Academic Council. 3.7 It was resolved that the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor be authorized to suggest names of two experts to be nominated from the Academic Council as members of the LIC Committee as per statutes 597 of University of Mumbai for granting autonomous status to K.J. Somaiya Comprehensive College of Education, Training and Research , Vidyavihar, Mumbai 3.8 It was resolved that the report of the local inquiry committee be accepted, and that in accordance therewith, the LLB – M.S. College, Mumbra be granted first time affiliation for opening of new degree college for the teaching of the degree courses of BLS, LLB (5 years) for academic year 2012-13.
