233 CATTLE - MONTHLY TB RESTRICTED (ORANGE) MARKET AT 4.30PM Auctioneer: Simon Alford 07789 980203
Steers to £1294 Heifers to £1114 Several forward for our April restricted sale with Prime Cattle to a decent 210ppk given for a cracking Bazadaise steer (25m) from Bottor Rock Farms of Hennock with similar others to 206, 204 and 203ppk and realising to £1294. ‘Over Thirty Month’ Limousin heifers reached 181ppk and £1034 for William Bromell of Chagford. Barren Cows still a strong trade with Simmental’s to 137ppk for Jeremy Brown of Poltimore closely followed by the better of a pair of Limousin cows from Chris Chudley of Newton Abbot at 136ppk and a nicely covered Charolais from William Bromell which drew 134ppk. Jersey barreners from Malcolm Huxtable, Stockleigh Pomeroy saw a top of 70ppk and £368. No really forward Store Cattle on offer with an eye catching, pure Simmental steer (24m) from Jeremy Brown fetching £925 and Limousin bullocks (27m) making to £910 for AW fisher & Son of Oakford. A well grown British Blue steer (23m) from LT Foale & Son, Kingsbridge rose to £900 then four smart Devon steers (25m) from Ed Rhodes, Broadclyst made £880 apiece, also a couple of Aberdeen Angus (19m) from Martin & Caroline Hurford, Colyton saw £830 a life and a Hereford steer (22m) hit £800 for the Baulch family of North Tawton. Best store heifers eased to £935 for another Aberdeen Angus (20m) from Martin & Caroline Hurford with a trio of neat British Blues from Jean & Andrea Darbey of Whimple selling for £770 apiece. Our next ‘Orange Market’ sale of cattle from TB restricted holding at Exeter will be held on Tuesday 21st May 2019 with entries for licensing closing on Tuesday 14th May 2019.
