Summer Newsletter 2017 Another busy term for our Cluster of Primary Schools. Festivals, competitions, leadership opportunities and Teacher CPD. 'ACTIVE, ACHIEVE and ENJOY' Our Children have embraced our ‘Strap Line’ more than ever this term - we had more competitions than ever, more participants than ever, lots of successes and most importantly lots of fun. Well done to everyone who participated and congratulations to all the winners. The following schools represented our Cheshire Oaks SSP (School Sports Partnership) at the Chance to Shine County Finals in Warrington: Y5/6 Girls Kwik Cricket - Kingsley CP & Horn’s Mill Y5/6 Boys/Mixed Kwik Cricket – Kingsley CP The following schools represented our SSP at the Cheshire Summer School Games in Ellesmere Port at the Sports Village: Y3/4 Tri Golf – Frodsham CE (1st Gold Medal winners) Y5/6 Tri Golf – Frodsham CE (2nd Silver Medal winners) Y5/6 Orienteering Girls—Horn’s Mill (6th) Y5/6 Orienteering Boys—Hillside (5th) Y3/4 Team Keysteps (Gymnastics) – Hillside (7th) Y5/6 Team Keysteps (Gymnastics) – Hillside (4th) Y3/4 Y5/6 Individual Keysteps (Gymnastics) – Norley Well done also to St Luke’s Y1, Horn’s Mill Y2, Hillside Y3, Frodsham CE Y4, Frodsham CE Y5 and Weaver Vale Y6 who represented our FAVSP cluster at the Everton Mini Kickers Festivals at Finch Farm in Liverpool. Our annual Y3/4/5/6 District Sports, held at Kingsley CP School, was won by Kingsley CP and our 3rd annual Reception/Y1/Y2 Mini Athletics was held at Helsby High School with approximately 450 children taking part. What amazing, active and talented children we have in our Cluster. Artie Senior (School Sports Coordinator) Summer Newsletter 2017 Volleyball has become a very popular sport in our Cluster with more teams than ever entering the competition. Helsby High Sports leaders refereed the matches. Kingsley CP won the competition. Mini Red Tennis is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small court with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play dif- ferent types of shots. Our Y3/4 Mini Red Tennis Competition was held at Kingsley Tennis Club and Helsby Sports Leaders umpired the matches. Summer Newsletter 2017 Kwik Cricket aims to provide children of all levels of ability and experience with an oppor- tunity to regularly participate in a fun introduction to cricket and to encourage fair play by all. Our Cluster Competition was played at Frodsham CC and the SSP Girls and Boy/Mixed finals were played at Kingsley CC Quad Kids is a team-based competition with four boys and four girls doing all four events. Sprint, throw, jump & distance run. At any one stage there will be groups doing field and track events. The competition can take place anywhere, athletics track, school field, football pitch or tennis court. Our SSP competition took place at the Stanney Track in Ellesmere Port. Summer Newsletter 2017 Our Reception Year 1 and Year 2 Athletics Festival held at Helsby High School. 450 children took part in teams of 10. Sports Leaders from Helsby were either ‘team coach’ or organised the carousel of activities. It was great FUN! Everton Reception Mini Kickers Festival was held at Frodsham Leisure Centre. Budding footballers of the future! Summer Newsletter 2017 Our Year 5/6 and Year 3/4 Tri Golf competitions were rained off at Helsby Golf Club and held indoors at Stanney Sportshall instead. Summer Newsletter 2017 Orienteering is an exciting and challenging outdoor sport that exercises both mind and body. The aim is to navigate between control points marked on an orienteering map; as a competitive sport the challenge is to complete the course in the quickest time choosing your own best route. The Orienteering Competition was held (on a rather wet day) on a course around Helsby High's school grounds organised by Deeside Orienteering Club and assisted by Helsby High Sports Leaders. Summer Newsletter 2017 Key Steps. There are 3 gymnastic areas, known as ‘disciplines' in Key Steps. The children competed in all 3 of these - floor, vault and body management. Our Keysteps Gymnastics competition was held at Ellesmere Port Sports Village. Summer Newsletter 2017 All of our thirteen FAVSP schools took part in our annual District Sports at Kingsley CP. Hundreds of children took part and were supported by hundreds of spectators. The rain held off and a great evening was had by all. Kwik Cricket - Kingsley CP and Horn’s Mill at the Y5/6 Girls County Final Cheshire & Warrington School Summer Games Frodsham CE Y3/4s are County Champions at Tri Golf and their Y5/6s were runners up. .
