    Admissions Policy for Accrington Academy Preamble: 1. This document sets out the proposed arrangements for Accrington Academy, throughout this document referred to as “the Academy”. These arrangements are without prejudice to the provisions of Annex B to the Master Agreement. The document forms an annex to the Supplemental Agreement between United Learning Trust (‘ULT’) and the Secretary of State. References in this document to “parents” include guardians and carers. 2. The Academy will comply with all relevant provisions of the statutory codes on admissions (the School Admissions Code and the School Admission Appeals Code of Practice) as they apply at any given time to maintained schools and with the law on admissions as it applies to maintained schools. Reference in the codes to admission authorities shall be deemed to be references to ULT. References to “the LA” shall be deemed to be references to Lancashire County Council and references to “the Admissions Forum” to be to the Lancashire admissions Forum. In particular, the Academy will take part in the Admissions Forum set up by the LA and have regard to its advice; and will participate in the co-ordinated admission arrangements operated by the LA. 3. Notwithstanding these arrangements, the Secretary of State may direct the Academy to admit a named pupil to the Academy on application from an LA. Before doing so the Secretary of State will consult the Academy. Admission Arrangements to be Approved by Secretary of State 4. The admission arrangements for the Academy, subject to any changes approved by the Secretary of State, are: a) The Academy has an agreed admission number of 200 students.

Accountability 23 1 Projects This Annex is concerned with matters which the Plan itself cannot either deal with or deliver. It sets out a number of issues which need to be monitored; issues which need to be addressed through an appropriate Marketing Strategy; issues concerning the delivery of the phased public realm proposals, improvements to Public Open Space and improvements to ginnels and green routes. In all cases, the Forum will seek to progress these matters with appropriate partners. NB Plan numbers relate to plans in the submitted Plan. 1. Monitoring The Forum will seek to monitor the progress of the Town Centre in meeting the objectives of the Plan and maintain a dialogue with the Council and other groups to this end. Early attention will be given to the following: (a) Site D (Plan 6 on page 28) – The Old Hospital Site. The Forum will keep this site under review until the CCG and the library, pharmacy and cafe etc proposals are either legally committed to be implemented or do not proceed. In the event of the latter, the Forum will press for the site to become a mixed use location (as allocated) reflecting the public consultations. (b) Site E (Plan 6 on page 28) – Leisure Centre Site. The Forum will keep the Leisure Centre position under review.

Year 11s can visit www.blackburn.ac.uk/apply to complete their application to a large number of courses including Vocational/Technical, A-Level and Contact: Schools Liaison team Apprenticeship programmes available online at www.blackburn.ac.uk. [email protected] The College is not conducting face-to-face interviews with Year 11s at this time. Instead, offers of places will be made based on a students’ predicted grades. When results are known in August, additional transition activities and interviews will take place to ensure students are enrolled on the right programme of study for them. The College is currently preparing activities that, where appropriate, Year 11s can engage with over the next months ahead of their College course. These will be shared with all applicants. The College’s scheduled New Students’ Day will take place virtually. Support is available from our dedicated Schools Liaison team for pupils requiring one to one advice at this time. The Chairman congratulated Cheshire East Councillor Alift Harewood on being awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to the community. The Chairman also congratulated the Leader of Staffordshire County Council, Councillor Philip Atkins, on being awarded an OBE. Finally, the Chairman referred to Shawn Reed, who worked for ANSA and who had sadly suddenly passed away over the bank holiday weekend. Shawn’s funeral would be held on Tuesday, 21st June. All present stood for a minute’s silence as a mark of respect.
