Not so long ago, I joined the chapter as a board of governors member amongst a group of dedicated and hard-working individuals that have helped shape the chapter into what it is today. We have had a lot of successes over the years, and I hope to build upon those achievements in our 2019/2020 year. This year’s program will feature a diverse array of technical topics from knowledgeable and distinguished guests, exciting technical tours of state-of-the-art facilities, and entertaining social events that will surely be a lot of fun. I would like to thank Yves Savoie and the entire 2018/2019 executive board for a tremendous year. We rely on the hard work of these folks to ensure that our chapter operates as effectively as possible, and continues to be a success. We have a lot to look forward to in the coming year, and none of that would be possible without the continued efforts of our dedicated volunteers. Finally, I would like to thank all of our chapter members. As always, I encourage all of our members to attend our board of governors meetings, technical presentations, and social events. If you are interested in taking your involvement with ASHRAE to the next step, there is no better way than to join our chapters Board of Governors. We are always looking for new faces to help guide the chapter in the right direction. I am thrilled to represent our chapter this year, and I hope to see you all at this year’s events. I look forward to working with the entire ASHRAE community, as we continue to take the NB/PEI chapter forward into a bright future. Location: 30 Court House, Gagetown, NB E5M 1E4 This year I wanted to try something a bit different. Gagetown Distillery and Cidery has agreed to host ASHRAE NBPEI on the 21st for a tour of their facility. They are a working farm, taking fruit from their orchards and producing apple cider, pear cider, vodka, gin, not-whiskey, and moonshine. It's a field to bottle operation. Check out their website here - https://gagetowndistillingcidery.ca/ This is going to be right before their apple harvest kicks into full gear for these folks so it will be a great opportunity to see their full operation in motion. The tour itself will be 5$ each (YEA Chapter members will have this covered by the Chapter) and will include samples of the products they have available. Because of this it is a 19+ event but remember to be responsible and not to drink and drive. This is a YEA event but this is open to all members and student members. If you know someone who might be interested in this event let them know. This is on a Saturday, and I realize this is out of the way for a lot of our membership, and as far as I know we don't have any members in Gagetown so anyone wishing to come will need to drive or be driven. If you are interested in coming and can offer to share a ride let me know. If you need a drive let me know and we'll do our best to find you one. Gagetown is between Moncton, Saint John, and Fredericton, I've done this drive both directions from each city and it is very scenic. As this is harvest season it might be a great opportunity to pick a bag of local apples for yourself or with a significant other. There's a U-pick a minute away from the farm and Gagetown itself is a lovely village with lots of shops and places to check out if you want to make a day of it. If you are interested in this event please let me know. Email, or call if you prefer. They want an estimate headcount a week ahead of the event.
