ABSTRACT Alfa Romeo Avio, Fiat Aviazione and General Electric have combined to develop and produce the CT7-6, a 2000 horsepower (1490 kW) growth turboshaft version of the T700/CT7 engine family. The engine is planned for the civil EH 101 and NH-90 helicopters. It also has potential for a possible single engine version of the Al29 as well as growth versions of current CT7/T700 applications. GE has had cooperative relationships with Alfa Romeo and Fiat since the 1950s. Programs involved include the J47, J85, J79, T58, LM500 and LM2500. currently all three companies are engaged in co-development, co-production and revenue sharing partnerships on the CF6-80 and T700. The CT7-6 will offer the service benefits established by the earlier CT7 and T700 models. These have given unparalleled operability, ease of maintenance, reliability and operating cost savings. The CT7-6 will inherit these advantages and bring added benefits to operators with the incorporation of the latest proven technology in design and materials. l. “The Great Challenges Ferrari – Maserati” The cars exhibited FERRARI 340 MM s/n 0280 AM, 1953 Collezione Camellini The Ferrari 340 earned its place in racing history thanks to Giannino Marzotto’s victory in the Mille Miglia on April 28, 1953. It was built as an answer to the endless search for victory through engine power rather than the refinement of the chassis, the efficiency of the suspensions, the innovation of the parts. Before the Mille Miglia, this car raced in the Tour of Sicily on April 12, driven by Gigi Villoresi with Pasquale Cassani. These were the only two races for the Ferrari factory team: two victories. The car on show here is the one driven by Giannino Marzotto in the 1953 Mille Miglia. The same car also won the Tour of Sicily. It has belonged to the present owner’s family since 1964. FERRARI 250 TOUR DE FRANCE s/n 0793 GT, 1958 Private Collection It did not look like a racing car able to win on a circuit, hillclimb or open road, until the PF 704 bodywork was presented at the 1956 Geneva Motor Show. At Maranello they decided this was the right image for the 3 litre berlinetta they had created for the GT class races. In September 1956, the Tour de France Automobile saw Alfonso De Portago- Edmund Nelson’s victory with the 250 GT. This victory is probably at the origin of the unofficial name, TDF, Tour de France. The car on show here, sold to Giuliano Giovanardi in 1958, carried the driver to numerous hillclimb victories and the Italian Mountain Championship in 1959. -

Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 1931 - 1934 At the end of the 1920s, Alfa Romeo decided to move upmarket by introducing a new car whose 8 cylinder engine was a development of the straight 6 used extensively in the company’s offerings up to that point. Designed by Vittorio Jano, the new 8C 2300 had a straight eight engine that was effectively two twin-overhead camshaft 4 cylinder engines joined back-to-back with the auxiliaries in the center, and supercharged to deliver no less than 142 horsepower at 5000 revs. The engine block with cast-in cylinder liners was of light alloy construction with fuel boost fed using a two-lobed volumetric supercharger built by Alfa, and a vertical carburetor. The 8C 2300 was built from 1931 through 1934 and was provided with two types of chassis, a short (Corto) chassis for competition (as is the featured car) and an imposing long (Lungo) chassis for touring in cabriolet or saloon form. The Corto Spider made its racing debut at the 1931 Mille Miglia and quickly became a favorite with the greatest racing drivers of the time, from Alberto Ascari and Giuseppe Campari to Tazio Nuvolari and Achille Varzi, who filled the sports pages with news of triumph behind the wheel of Alfa’s 8C 2300. The car shown here sporting a Figoni body was ordered from the factory by Tazio Nuvolari (the Michael Schumacher of his era) and used extensively and effectively for racing, including a win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1933 while partnered with Raymond Sommer, beating Luigi Chinetti by about 500 meters. -
