Project Update July 2021

To keep project-area elected officials informed of the design and construction progress and schedule in the Turnpike / I-95 Interchange project area, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission would like to provide the project update indicated below. An updated PA Turnpike / I-95 Interchange Project Overview Map is also attached to this document for your reference.

• Construction Sections Recently Completed o US 13 Connector to/from the Turnpike (Delaware Valley Interchange) . Reconstruction of the ramps from the area of the previous Delaware Valley Interchange Toll Plaza to Route 13, removal of the existing interchange ramp bridge over Route 13, and implementation of a new at-grade signalized intersection of the Turnpike ramp with Route 13. . This project is substantially completed, with the execution of some minor contract and close-out activities remaining.

• Ongoing Construction o New Falls Road Bridge . Replacement of New Falls Road Bridge over the Turnpike in Bristol Township. . The detour(s), approved by PennDOT, have been in place since May 2020 since COVID-19-related virtual schooling allowed the bridge closure to happen sooner than originally planned. . Two-way traffic will be restored across the new bridge on New Falls Road by the end of August 2021. • Future Stages o Stage 2: Turnpike widening and Reconstruction Sections in Bensalem and Bristol Townships (Sections A, C, D30) . These sections continue to advance through the design process. The Turnpike Commission continues to progress these design sections with the intent of going to construction. While there are many things that can impact that process (design-related items to complete and required partnering agency permits and approvals that are needed, etc.), the project continues to move forward. As specific schedules are developed, information and additional section details will be forthcoming. o Stage 3: Delaware River Bridge . Pre-design activities, largely consisting of environmental evaluations, are ongoing. Once pre-design activities are completed, the design phase, beginning with alternatives analysis and preliminary design activities, can commence in accordance with the PA Turnpike’s programming schedule.
