Biography

Mikhail Kazakov graduated from the Kazan State Conservatory in 2001. In 1999 he made his debut with Tatar State and Theatre, and in summer 2001 he became an opera artist of the .

His recent performances include production in Korean State Opera and Wroclaw Opera Theatre, ”Don Carlo” at State Opera Berlin, ”” in Savonlinna Festival with Bolshoi Theatre (2017).

The singer made a great impression in big tragic roles such as Miller, Dosifei, Philipp II and particularly with the title role debut in Boris Godunov at the age of 26 at Bolshoi, giving associations to the legendary Fedor Shalyapin. Singing the title role of “” at the same house, staged by Yury Lyubimov, was another big professional achievement and theater critics unanimously acknowledged Kazakov as one of the great basses of the world. The Times, Opera News and Zeitung have published enthusiastic reviews of his regularly appearances with the major opera houses and orchestras around the world.

Mr. Kazakov has performed on almost all prestigious stages in the world such as, , Bolshoi Theatre, Royal Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Barbican Centre (London) UNESCO hall (Paris), Megaron (Athens), The , Covent Garden, La Scala, Opera Garnier, Carnegie hall (New York), The Dallas Opera, Washington National Opera, Place des Arts (Montreal, Canada) and among others in concert halls in Seoul, Tokyo and Beijing.

He regularly appears with Bolshoi Theater both in and on tour (China, UK, South Korea, Israel, USA, Japan, Greece, France, , Poland, Cyprus, Latvia, Finland, Norway, Serbia, Czech Republic and Slovakia).

Mr. Kazakov has performed on stage with many world-famous singers, including , Еlena Obraztsova, Maria Gulegina, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, , Krassimira Stoyanova, Serguey Leiferkus, Placido Domingo, Matti Salminen, Оlga Borodina and Evgeny Nesterenko.

The singer's repertoire includes more than 30 and many oratorios as well as romances and songs of Russian and western composers.
