The purpose of this document is provide a means of dissemination for information about Radnor Township Parks & Recreation Department’s recreational opportunities such as programs, special events, excursions, parks, and facilities to new and existing residents of Radnor Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. 2 Welcome to Parks & Recreation RADNOR TOWNSHIP is located in eastern Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It covers 13.8 square miles and is home to approximately 31,000 residents. The Radnor Township Parks & Recreation Department maintains more than 550 acres of township and school district property, coordinates over 200 recreation programs throughout the year, and operates the Radnor Activity Center at Sulpizio Gym and the historic Willows Mansion Banquet Facility & Park. The public is invited Susan Michaelson to all meetings. »The Philosophy of the Radnor Township Parks & Recreation Department is to establish, improve, develop, manage, and finance the parks and recreational programming system with utmost dignity and quality. The Department aims to serve the best interest of all residents by providing and maintaining a secure environment that enhances the quality of life for the individual and the community. We are committed to a philosophy that will provide recreational services with the highest degree of excellence at the highest standard possible. We pledge our support to using only qualified and trained personnel in accordance with the best and most reasonable standard of care possible. »The Mission of the Radnor Township Parks & Recreation Department is to identify recreational interests and improvements in our community, along with providing guidelines for monitoring and assessing the recreational needs of township residents. As such, the department is responsible for the development, operation, administration, and maintenance of township recreational facilities and year round programs for residents of all ages. The department is under the direction of Tammy Cohen, Interim Director of Parks & Recreation. Ms. Cohen is assisted by many team members including Leah McVeigh, Administrative Assistant; Paul Totaro, Parks Supervisor; Mary Conaghan, Director of the Willows; and more than 250 program and seasonal staff members and volunteers. Where you can find information about Radnor Township Parks & Recreation Department: • Parks & Recreation Department Office located in the Radnor Township Building at 301 Iven Ave, Wayne, PA 19087. • A seasonal (fall, winter/spring, summer) Parks and Recreation brochure is printed three times per year and is available to the public. The brochure is available at various schools, local businesses, and community organizations throughout the township as well as in the Parks & Recreation Office. It can also be viewed on the Radnor Township website, www.radnor.com. The brochure is full of activities including programs, excursions, and special events for people of all ages. If you would like to have your email address added to our mailing list email [email protected]. • RTV - Government Cable Access Channel: Comcast Cable Channel 10 or Verizon Fios Channel 30; view parks & recreation updates and information. • Local newspapers -- Main Line Media News publications, Philadelphia Inquirer (selected information). 3 Accomplishments A cornerstone of the high quality of life enjoyed by Radnor residents is a fantastic array of recreation programs for all of the township’s residents. A wealth of programs, camps, special events, and excursions are offered all year long. The Radnor Township School District makes many of its facilities available for these programs as part of a maintenance agreement with the township. The department serves thousands of people each year, with over 8,000 residents taking part in recreation programs alone. More than 1,500 children enjoy the Radnor Youth Basketball Program each winter and about 1,200 youths participate in our softball and baseball leagues in the spring. In addition, the Radnor Summer Camp Programs host more than 1,500 campers each year, providing a host of popular activities ranging from the Radnor Day Camp & Tot-Lot Programs to many athletic and creative arts camps. Registering for Programs & Excursions: You may register in person at the Radnor Township Building or by mail to 301 Iven Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087. The office is open Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. All registration forms must be filled out completely and signed by the parent/guardian of the participant under age 18 or the adult registering for the program. Radnor residents have priority in program registration. All participants must be covered by health insurance. Payment Methods Accepted: Payments in the form of cash, check, or credit card are accepted. Checks may be made payable to “Radnor Township”. Mastercard or Visa are accepted in person only at the Radnor Township Building. Credit cards will not be accepted over the phone or internet. Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Program Confirmation: Participants who register for a program will not be contacted prior to the start date. If you would like information on a program that you have registered for, contact the Parks & Recreation Office at 610-688-5600. Deadlines for Registration: Please register early if you are interested in a program or excursion. Programs will be cancelled if not enough registrations are received. Registrations will continue until programs are filled or until the start of the program. Register Early: Program cancellations are made one to two weeks prior to the start of a program. Don’t let a good program get cancelled because you did not register in time. Waitlists: Is your program full and you have been added to a waitlist? Don’t give up! If there is a cancellation by another participant, we will call you. Also, if there is enough interest, we sometimes have the opportunity to add another program. If you do not get into a program due to unavailability, you will receive a full refund if you have been placed on a waitlist. Refunds: All requests for refunds must be made at least one week (7 days) prior to the start of any program or excursion. Approved refunds are subject to a $10.00 administration charge. No other refunds will be given. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for the processing of a refund. Inclement Weather: Participants who register for a Radnor Township Parks & Recreation program will not be contacted in the event of inclement weather. Please contact the Radnor Township Parks & Recreation Office if you have questions regarding program cancellations at 610-688-5600. Do not contact Radnor Township School District for Parks & Recreation program information. For inclement weather advisory notices and the latest on cancellations, please visit www.radnor.com and click on the link for the Parks & Recreation Department. We will make our best effort to update the website to reflect all present inclement weather program cancellations.
