Gardiner Expressway Date: October 23, 2015 To: Government Management Committee From: Chief Corporate Officer Wards: Ward 20 – Trinity Spadina Reference P:\2015\Internal Services\RE\Gm15038re (AFS #21976) Number: SUMMARY The purpose of this report is to seek authorization from City Council to commence proceedings for the expropriation of certain lands forming part of the condominium property known municipally as 228-230 Queens Quay West and certain lands located to the north (rear) of the condominium properties known municipally as 250-270 Queens Quay West. These lands are required for the reconstruction and realignment of the Gardiner Expressway's York/Bay/Yonge off ramp (the "Project") with a new ramp to Lower Simcoe Street. While discussions with the affected owner and condominium corporations are ongoing, it appears unlikely that satisfactory negotiated terms can be achieved, as the required land is directly part of, or subject to easements in favour of, condominium properties. Pursuant to the Condominium Act (Ontario), a condominium corporation is prohibited from selling part of the condominium's common elements unless at least 80% of the unit owners vote in favour of the sale and 80% of those persons with a registered claim against the property consent in writing to the sale. In order to release easements that benefit a condominium, a majority, or in some cases 80%, of the unit owners must approve the release.

    REPORT FOR ACTION Parking Amendments - Bay Street, between Harbour Street and Queens Quay West (York Street, Bay Street, and Yonge Street Ramp Removal) Date: October 26, 2017 To: Toronto and East York Community Council From: Acting Director, Transportation Services, Toronto and East York District Wards: Ward 28, Toronto Centre-Rosedale SUMMARY As the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) operates a transit service on Bay Street, City Council approval of this report is required. Transportation Services is requesting approval to amend the existing parking regulations on the east side of Bay Street, between Harbour Street and Queens Quay West. The proposed changes will allow for safe and efficient northbound right-turns from Bay Street to Harbour Street, and also improve sight lines at this intersection. RECOMMENDATIONS The Acting Director, Transportation Services, Toronto and East York District, recommends that: 1. City Council rescind the existing designated commercial loading zone in effect from 4:30 p.m. of one day to 8:00 a.m. of the next following day Monday to Friday and anytime Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays from July 1 to August 31, inclusive; Anytime from September 1 of one year to June 30 of the next following year, inclusive on the east side of Bay Street, between a point 53.6 metres north of Queens Quay West and a point 28 metres further north. 2.     Attachment 3: City of Toronto Report for Action REPORT FOR ACTION Tommy Thompson Park Update Date: May 10, 2021 To: Infrastructure and Environment Committee From: Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation Wards: Ward 14 - Toronto-Danforth SUMMARY Tommy Thompson Park (the Park) is the largest component of the broader Leslie Street Spit (the Spit), located at the base of Leslie Street where it meets the shore of Lake Ontario; all components of the Spit will ultimately be consolidated as Tommy Thompson Park (see Attachment 1). The Park is designated in the Official Plan as an Environmentally Significant Area and is recognized internationally as a Canadian Important Bird Area for supporting the conservation of birds and their habitat. The Park is owned by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and managed in partnership between TRCA and the City of Toronto. The Park demonstrates that nature can flourish in cities and contribute to the well-being of city residents; only minutes from downtown, the Park is an escape from the city, and a place to marvel at the force of nature. It is a pet-free urban wilderness that exists as the result of decades of careful management and stewardship of natural succession and habitat restoration processes by TRCA with the support of the City, community groups, and other partners. Its significant and diverse aquatic and terrestrial environments provide habitat for at-risk species who are otherwise challenged by the interrelated impacts of habitat loss, habitat fragmentation, urbanization and climate change. The Park's evolution into an urban wilderness can also be attributed to the work of advocacy groups like the Friends of the Spit, founded in 1977 by naturalists advocating for the Spit to grow naturally, without development and the privatization of uses.

    Acknowledgments The site of Exhibition Place has had a long tradition as a gathering place. Given its location on the water, these lands would have attracted Indigenous populations before recorded history. We acknowledge that the land occupied by Exhibition Place is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. Figure 1.
