4 May–June 2017 | nineMagazine nineNet.org An online archive gallery of oral histories collected from the making of A Place Worth Saving preserves the epic story of the Central West End and can be used by the community for research at nineNet.org. It includes complete interviews with Dr. William H. Danforth, chancellor emeritus, Washington University in St. Louis, Vincent Schoemehl, Jr., former mayor (1981- 1993), and Francis Slay, former mayor (2001-2017), and many other influential community members.

The book, Renaissance: A History of the Central West End by Candace O’Conner, the film’s creative consultant, includes rare photos and traces the history of the Central West End from the 19th century to the present. It begins with the rural landscape of 1875, the creation of Forest Park, the excitement of the 1904 World’s Fair, and looks at how neighbors banded together in the 1970s to rescue and rebuild the Central West End.
