1. Coming up at the Fredericton Playhouse May 8-22

May 8 - 9, 7:30pm; May 10, 2pm and 7:30pm TNB Theatre School presents Guys & Dolls Luck be a lady tonight. Welcome to Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City where the men are guys, the women are dolls and the dice are loaded. Love is the thing that has nipped them in this oddball romantic comedy. Theatre New Brunswick’s 2013-2014 wraps up with a full-blown production of the hit musical, Guys and Dolls, complete with live orchestral accompaniment.

This popular Broadway favourite first debuted in 1950 winning five Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and has proven to be a timeless story, still in demand over 60 years later. A company of more than 100 people including cast, orchestra, creative and production teams will bring this timeless musical to the Fredericton Playhouse stage with four performances beginning May 8. This annual TNB Theatre School production is the culmination of months of rehearsals and countless hours of preparation behind the scenes. And when the curtain goes up on May 8, students will finally have the opportunity to share all their hard work.

TNB’s 2013-2014 SMT program features over 40 students aged 14 to 19. Helping bring the show to life are the professional designers and production staff including Caleb Marshall (Producer), Anne Marie Murphy (Musical Director), Michael Doherty (Conductor/Sound Designer), Hilary Ready (Head of Movement), Mike Johnston (Set Designer), Sherry Kinnear (Costume Designer) and Johnathan Harpur (Light Designer).

This show will take place in Fredericton from May 8-10 at 7:30pm with a matinée on May 10. Tickets are $27.00 for Adults, and $10 for McCain Student Tickets.

May 13, 7:30pm Atlantic Ballet Theatre of presents Piaf World Premier Abandoned by her mother at birth, raised by her grandmother in a brothel, encouraged to sing by her Father- a street acrobat–Edith Piaf became one of France’s most legendary singers of all times. Artistic Director, Igor Dobrovolskiy and the exceptional dancers of Atlantic Ballet explore a life shrouded in mystery, love and tragedy reflected in the authentic and life inspired songs of the great Edith Piaf.

May 19, 7:30pm LHHS Safe Grade presents Lion King Competition An evening filled with fun entertainment, excitement and a lot of laughter is what is promised in this year’s edition of the Leo Hayes High School’s Lion King Competition. LHHS grade 12 male students will compete to take home the honour of being named the “Lion King”. This annual competition which is a Safe Grad fundraiser sees the candidates performing a choreographed dance as a group as well as individual talents in front of their admiring fans and the judges. Some of the talents are surprisingly good while all are very entertaining! There is a fashion show section of the Competition as well where the candidates get to “strut their stuff” while looking great in fancy clothing. Just before the judges go off to deliberate, the candidates are posed with impromptu questions which always guarantees a few laughs. The conclusion of the night is when the Lion King and his Court, the Prince of Popularity, the Duke of Cool, the Court Minstrel, the Court Jester and Mr. Congeniality, are announced. Come out for a fun evening of entertainment and support LHHS Safe Grad because these guys just cannot wait to be King!

2. The Next Folding Theatre Company presents Disintegrate Me May 7-10

After fighting with the Canadian Troops in the First World War, Frank Kent returns to his home in Gagetown, New Brunswick a changed man. As he tries to readjust to life away from the front lines, something he has brought back with him from Ypres will affect his family for generations. Disintegrate Me is a fascinating and completely original new play co-written by Ryan Griffith and Jake Martin. Examining both New Brunswick’s rich history and humanity’s interaction with the chemical, it creates a rich world full of out-of-time characters searching for meaning and truth in their very untraditional lives.

A tragicomedy of epic proportions, Disintegrate Me will resonate in the minds and hearts of the audiences long after its run from May 7- 10 in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre’s Auditorium. Performances begin at 7pm. Tickets are $15 for general admission, and $10 for Students/Seniors.

4. The Philanthropy Superstar Social Hour at the CSAC May 8

The Charlotte Street Arts Centre gets ready to fête some of its superstar supporters, Picaroons Traditional Ales and Isaac’s Way Restaurant, this Thursday, May 8 from 5:30-7:30pm. The Philanthropy Superstar Social Hour, which takes place in the Charlotte Glencross Gallery, recognizes the ongoing generosity of these two community philanthropists, who have donated year after year to the centre. In particular, the support for the annual New Brunswick Musicians Emerge (NB-ME) Festival will be acknowledged.

The event will feature unplugged music by some of the NB-ME and Songwriting Intensive alumni, Picaroons beer, snacks, and super-short Inspirational speeches. The Philanthropy Superstar Social Hour also serves as the kick-off to the Del Barber + David R Elliott show at Wilser’s Room in downtown Fredericton, which starts at 8pm (doors open 7pm). The show at Wilser’s Room, one of three in the province, was part of a prize package won by David R Elliott during last year’s NB-ME Festival, sponsored by Picaroons.

The New Brunswick Musicians Emerge Festival is an annual music festival at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre that aims to recognize, promote and provide opportunities to emerging musicians in the province. 2014 will be the 4th year of the festival. 5. Christine Koch’s Landscape Dreaming and Artist’s Choice Begin at Gallery 78 May 9

Painter and printmaker Christine Koch draws her inspiration and imagery from Canada’s mountain and northern environments, where she has travelled as Visiting Artist with scientific research teams. Her work interprets the dramatic geology and geomorphology of some of Canada’s most iconic wild places, including Gros Morne National Park, northern Labrador; Baffin Island, the ; and the Rocky Mountains.Landscape Dreaming features mixed-media varied edition prints, hybrid works combining paint and print media.

Artist’s Choice is a group exhibition featuring new paintings by several Gallery 78 artists including: Stephen May, Steven Rhude, and Stephanie Weirathmueller. Artists are often guided in their choices by commission requests, exhibition themes, and commercial demands. When an artist enjoys the freedom to choose the size, subject, colour and composition of a work, a truly magical outcome can often result. Join these artists as they make art their way.

6. The Multicultural Association of Fredericton presents Dance & Delicacies May 9

The Multicultural Association of Fredericton presents the Newcomer Scholarship Fundraiser, Dance & Delicacies, on Friday, May 9, 7:30- 11:30pm at UNB SUB. The program includes music by Vinyl2Bits, international hors d’oeuvres and desserts, and Silent Auction. 7. Concert with Singer/Songwriter Ian Janes May 9

Ian is a singer/songwriter from Dartmouth NS but has frequently played showcases at Fredericton’s Harvest Jazz and Blues. CBC’s Bob Mersereau recently reviewed Janes' most recent album, Piece of Mine and found it "a tremendous, soulful effort … head and shoulders above the usual”.

The cost is $15 per person. The show gets under way at 8pm, doors open at 7:15pm. All are welcome but we ask you to reserve seats as space is limited. Ian’s amazing rhythms and mellow voice will add that extra spring bounce in your step and warmth in your heart. Hope to see you there.

8. Meals on Wheels Seniors Spring Serenade

Saturday, May 10 is the day before Mother’s Day. It is also when a number of talented local seniors singing groups and others will join together in song in support of Fredericton’s seniors. It‘s the Meals on Wheels Seniors Spring Serenade Take a trip down memory lane through the music of days gone by. Come relax and reminisce to some of your favorite hit songs of yester-year, or to take Mom out for a special Mother’s Day treat, or to enjoy an old-fashioned couple’s night.

Help raise funds for affordable meals for the senior and disabled members of our community while you enjoy the musical talents of:

• The Stepping Stone Singers • The Meadow Larks Quartet • The Priestman St. School Choir.

This event takes place at 7pm, Saturday May 10 at the Journey Wesleyan Church, 131 Duncan Lane. There is lots of parking available; walker and wheel chair accessible. Tickets are$10. Tax receipts are available for donations over $20.

9. The Tay Creek Folk Festival presents Spring Mix May 10

The Tay Creek Folk Festival presents Spring Mix, a May musical showcase and fund-raising event on Saturday May 10 at Wilser’s Room (Capitol Complex King St). Music starts at 7:30pm with tickets at the door by donation.

Enjoy another fun TCFF evening starting with some great tunes from Doug Forbes. Doug is well known in the Fredericton music world, along with his daughter Lava- he has a wide repertoire you will be sure to enjoy. Next up is original songwriter Marianne Glover. Marianne seldom gets on stage to share her songs, so come on in and have a listen to a few of her new tunes. We are excited to have Andrew Ross and friends perform for us again. Get ready for some soulful, bluesy sounds complete with Andrew’s great harp playing. Next we welcome Carlin Fraser to the stage- we are really looking forward to hearing Carlin play for the first time on the TCFF stage. It’s always a good time at our events.

The Tay Creek Folk Festival runs from July 25-27, 2014 and is located at Tay Ridge Farms, Tay Creek, NB and run by PAX (Peace~Arts~Excellence), a not-for-profit organization promoting independent and collaborative artistic efforts in the realm of visual arts, fine crafts, music and literature.

10. The Otesha Project presents Cycling Through Change May 11

Join the newest group of energized and engaged Otesha volunteer cycle tour members for the free premiere of their play Cycling Through Change! This interactive, documentary-style theatre piece follows three young people as they grapple with “being the change they want to see in the world”, each in their own way.

The comedic cast of high-energy performers use their own bodies as props to create a hilarious take on serious environmental and social justice issues that gets audiences talking and laughing. Come catch this funky show before the team pedals off into spring to bring Cycling Through Change to thousands of people across New Brunswick and .

This show will be presented on May 11 at 7:30pm at Forest Hill United Church, located at 45 Kimble Court (off Forest Hill Road) in Fredericton, NB.

11. UNB Art Centre presents Eastern Seaboard Cabinetmakers May 12 – June 19

The UNB Art Centre presents Eastern Seaboard Cabinetmakers: Furniture Making in 1765-1880 from May 12 – June 19, 2014. Selected from the collection of the Kings Landing Historical Settlement, this exhibition will look at furniture made on the east coast of Canada, from the Pre-Loyalist Planters to the Late Victorians, from the perspective of 2013.

Furniture not only presents us with objects made through the artistry of craftsmen such as cabinetmakers and carpenters, but it provides a window onto history. It gives us a glimpse into the tastes of an era, social status, personal values and cultural influences. People use furniture to define themselves to their friends and neighbours. These pieces of material history also provide an insight into trade routes, immigration patterns, economic conditions, as well as technological and business practices.

The UNB Art Centre is located at Memorial Hall, 9 Bailey Drive, University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. The galleries are open 9am to 4pm weekdays, and for special events. Admission is free to members of the public. Everyone welcome!

12. Fredericton Music Festival Awards Concert

Come and enjoy a relaxing evening of exceptional music! Top performers in the 67th Annual Fredericton Music Festival will be recognized at two special Awards Concerts. The public is invited to come and celebrate the success of many local young musicians. The Junior Awards Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 7pm at the Journey Wesleyan Church. The Senior Awards Concert will be held at the same venue on Thursday, May 15 at 7pm.

Admission is free for children and students; $5.00 for adults. Medals, scholarships, and prizes will be awarded to the festival’s most outstanding musicians. The audience will be treated to performances in several disciplines including voice, piano, strings and winds. Everyone is welcome.

13. Between A Rock and A Soft Place May 15-17

Did you know that New Brunswick was once part of Newfoundland? Find out how that is possible in a series of comic sketches which also reveals how moose came to live in Newfoundland, how cod liver oil is connected between both provinces, and includes a new perspective on the debate over selling NB Power between the two premiers of each province, plus much more. There will be prizes!

Maria Bourgeois is a Newfoundlander living in New Brunswick. She is a graduate of the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College of Fine Arts Theatre Program. Since then she has gone on to work with Theatre Newfoundland Labrador, Irondale Ensemble Project of Halifax, Live Bait Theatre of New Brunswick, and has partnered on various theatre projects with tourism associations, environmental organizations, and other community groups throughout and beyond.

Performances take place from May 15-17 at 23 Dineen Drive on the University of New Brunswick campus at 7:30pm. The cost is $10 for adults, $7 for students. Tickets are available at the door. 14. Season Finale of the Symphony New Brunswick Bravo Series May 20

Common Ground / en commun: a meeting of music that appeals to all; a common sensitivity, joy, beauty, and celebration. Starting with Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, get ready for a concert that reaches deeply into what is to be human and finds something truly wonderful there.

The Louisbourg choir, the official SNB choir, returns to perform the wonderful choral section of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. More New Brunswick talent returns to our province for the solo parts in this, perhaps most famous of all symphonies. Sally Dibblee, Paula Rockwell, Michael Colvin and Giles Tomkins sing the solo roles as SNB ends its Bravo season with joy and passion. Contrasting the breadth of Beethoven's 9th, this program also includes Samuel Barber's Adagio for strings, one of the most beloved pieces for string orchestra and one of the pieces most often requested by the audience.

Tickets are $40 for adults, $10 for students. Available at The Playhouse. It will take place on May 20 at the Fredericton Playhouse.

15. We Are All White Bones at the Charlotte Glencross Gallery May 21-June 21

Natalie Sappier, The Water Spirit, opens her exhibition entitled We are all White Bones in the Charlotte Glencross Gallery this Wednesday, May 21. The exhibition will formally close with a ceremonial-style finissage to coincide with National Aboriginal Day on June 21, 2014 from 2-4pm.

We are all White Bones is a solo exhibition of elegant paintings and drawings by Natalie Sappier. Sappier, also known by her Wolastoqiyik name, Samaqani Cocahq, which translates to mean The Water Spirit, is from Negotkuk Tobique First Nation. She is strongly influenced as an artist by childhood memories of old, traditional motifs on regalia, as well as by the legends shared by teachers. Sappier is interested in creating stories of her people, her culture and what she would call, “giving breath to the sleeping, still roots waiting to be awakened.”

Sappier is a graduate of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and has shown work in several prestigious galleries, as well as completing a number of public art commissions. In recent years, she has created cultural murals for the Tobique Community Health Centre and the University of New Brunswick, as well as taking part in the Ephakuk exhibition at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. She is also involved with the Young Ancestors Workshops at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, traveling to communities that work to inspire youth and elders to create artworks together. Sappier currently works as Aboriginal Outreach Officer for artsnb, with the mission to reach out to the First Nations artists in New Brunswick and share opportunities in the arts.

The Charlotte Street Arts Centre is proud to support the contributions of First Nations people in New Brunswick and invites everyone to celebrate National Aboriginal Day with us. A closing ceremony and reception for We are all White Bones will take place from 2-4pm on Saturday, June 21, 2014, with a reception beginning in the Charlotte Glencross Gallery and traditional opening prayers and chants in the Auditorium at 2:30pm. The reception will feature traditional foods offered by Sappier. All are welcome to attend. The Charlotte Street Arts Centre opens the doors of creative expression to all.

16. Fredericton Society of Artists present Annual Spring Exhibition May 23-June 1

The Fredericton Society of Artists present their 2014 Annual Spring Exhibition at the Provincial Archives Building, located at 23 Dineen Drive, Fredericton UNB Campus. This exhibition will take place from May 23 to June 1. There will be an opening reception where you can meet the artists on Friday, May 23 from 5-8pm. Wine and finger foods will be served. Exhibit hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday Noon to 4pm. We will be donating 15% of our sales to the Art Auction Fundraiser at Isaac's Way. 4. Announcing Open Registration for FrOST Summer Drama Camps

Fredericton Outdoor Summer Theatre (FrOST) featuring The Calithumpians presents ACT NOW! Summer Drama Camps 2014. “Act Now!!” - it’s a promise! All week campers will be active - acting, singing and dancing. They will finish their week up on stage in Friday’s finale.

These weeklong sessions offer participants a chance to experience theatre first hand and actually get up and perform their own creations at the end of a multi-faceted drama program. Registrations are now open and space is limited. Act Now! day camps follow our tried-and- true formula of drama activities and participatory games with emphasis on fun, personal development and Environmental action. Calithumpians has been offering drama camps and workshops for children for over twenty-five years.

The participants will enjoy a peek behind the scenes of the FrOST Theatre-In-The-Park, at Officers’ Square, and enjoy the live lunchtime performances by the professional troupe. Various members of the summer troupe provide specialized short programs daily including singing, dancing, physical humour, theatre games, movement, improvisation and mask making.

All camps will culminate in a short program or play written and performed by the camp participants on an Environmental theme. Their show goes Friday at noon in the park as a curtain raiser for FrOST.

5. Music Movies Kids Frozen Summer Day Camp

Music Moves Kids presents FROZEN in Summer, a day camp for kids ages 7-12. We will learn to sing, in small and large groups, the music from the movie Frozen. We will also have Frozen theme games and crafts. The camp is designed to introduce the love of music to young kids; and for more experienced ones to practise their singing and acting skills, as well as add some summertime fun and games!

6. New Brunswick Filmmakers' Co-operative Kids and Teen Film Camps

The New Brunswick Filmmakers' Co-operative is hosting Filmmaking Summer Camps for young students (Ages 8-14) and teenage students (Ages 15-18).

Kids Film Camp Dates for 2014 are July 14-18, Monday-Friday. $165.00 ($15 from this is for snacks for the week)

Teen Film Camp Dates for 2014: July 28 to August 1, Monday - Friday. $215.00 ($15 from this is for snacks for the week)

7. Design Works Summer Camps for Kids & Teens!

Join the fun this summer at UNB’s Design Works camps for kids and teens. With over 50 creative and educational summer camps, choose from themed art camps and Steal-the-Stage Theatre to Science and Engineering camps. Budding photographers can select from Stop Motion Animation and Outdoor photography, along with introductory classes for all ages.

New this year, there are themed art camps taught in French, cool science and engineering camps, and an awesome DIY Handy-Kid camp. As well, the always popular Jr Iron Chef camps are offering different cooking themes throughout the summer.

8. Charlotte Street Arts Centre Offers Exciting Summer Camps for Youth

Following on the success of last year’s summer dance and circus camps, the Charlotte Street Arts Centre is pleased to offer again, for 2014, the Summer Circus Arts Camp and the Summer Dance Intensive.

The 2014 Summer Dance Intensive takes place from Monday, June 23 to Friday, June 27 from 9am – 4:30pm each day. The Summer Dance Intensive offers two levels of dance training: Level 1 for ages 9-14, and Level 2 for ages 14+. Some dance experience is necessary. Students will work in creation, ballet and modern, with special classes in theatrical expression, Hip Hop, improvisation, and voice. Instructors include: Darryl Tracy (), Lisa Anne Ross, Ginny Steeves, Kyle Gartshore, and Joel Leblanc.

The 2014 Summer Circus Arts Camp takes place from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18 from 9am – 4:30pm each day. The Summer Circus Arts Camp is a fun and active summer camp where youth will explore a Cirque du Soleil style of circus performance with professional instructors. They’ll take daily workshops learning a variety of circus skills including acro, clown, balancing, hoops and more. The week will end in a short performance for friends & family! Instructors include: Lisa Anne Ross, Kyle Gartshore, Lôdvi Bongers, and Nataniel Michaud.

All the music camps will be held on the UNB Fredericton campus from 9am to 4pm.

Camps for Older Students (Students 15 years of age or over. Please apply HST):

This is a great introduction to music through the tight relationship with movement. A new theme each day: students explore different pieces of music by listening to the story, singing, playing rhythm instruments, and working on crafts.

• Youth String Camp August 11-15 Ages 6-10 $169.00

A full day camp for younger students who have recent/basic experience on string instruments, such as violin, viola, and cello: students have fun on their instruments while receive expert instruction from our instructor.

1. Call for Submissions for Fredericton Arts Alliance’s Artists in Residence Summer Series 2014

This year’s theme: Fredericton: A Community of Art

The Fredericton Arts Alliance calls on established and emerging artists in all media to apply for week-long residencies running June to September at the Soldiers’ Barracks in the Historic Garrison District. This year, artists are asked to respond to the theme - Fredericton: A Community of Art.

The residencies offer artists a week to focus on a special project, a chance to interact with visitors to the studio, and participation in a concluding exhibition of works produced over the summer. The FAA pays each artist $400 for the week, and pairs artists together, which offers an opportunity for artists to share the space, their ideas, and their influences.

Application forms are also available at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design administrative office during business hours. The application deadline is May 15, 2014 at 4pm.

2. MusiCounts TD Community Music Grants

MusiCounts, together with TD, has developed programming designed specifically to create opportunities for youth in underserved communities across Canada. MusiCounts TD Community Music Grants will provide musical instruments and equipment to community centres, after-school programs, and other community non-profit organizations serving local communities that have great potential yet are in need of funding to ensure their sustained growth.

Applications will be accepted until May 9th, 2014. Grant recipients will be announced in late July, 2014.

MusiCounts TD Community Music Grants will be offered in allotments ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 to deserving programs ($200,000 in grants will be awarded). MusiCounts TD Community Music Grants will be open to non-profit organizations that operate outside of Provincial Departments of Education. Both non-profit and/or registered charitable organizations with pre-existing music programs and/or non-profit organizations that want to introduce a music program to complement their current programming are eligible for grant consideration. The MusiCounts TD Community Music Grant recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

• Economic need of the non-profit/charitable organization. • Number of youth impacted by the music program. • Dedication of pre-existing staff & facilities to house/manage the music program. • Overall impact the MusiCounts TD Community Music Grant will make within the local community.

3. Auditions for TNB Theatre Arts Academy

This summer New Brunswick’s most promising young theatre artists will be selected for the first Theatre New Brunswick‘sTheatre Arts Academy at The Fredericton Playhouse. This three-week intensive course from June 30 to July 19, 2014 will provide 16 student high school and university undergraduate students with exposure to numerous professional instructors with training in the core disciplines of acting, voice and movement as well as 2 theatrical arts students in aspects of technical stage craft, design, and direction. Students’ work will be showcased in a public presentation at The Fredericton Playhouse at the conclusion of the academy.

4. Summer Student Position: Cultural Projects Assistant

For 12 weeks (June 2 – August 22)

The City of Fredericton is inviting applications from students for the position of Cultural Projects Assistant. The student will assist with a variety of cultural projects including: database maintenance, art collection inventory updates, writing of website content, social media and traditional media promotion of various cultural initiatives, research, event coordination, and other duties as they arise.

Required skills will include: writing, social media, data entry, attention to detail, organized, self-starter. Wage: $10.50/hr. Hours of employment are 36.25 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.

Student eligibility • Please, note, this is a Canada Summer Jobs initiative, and to be eligible individuals must: • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; • Have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year; • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act[1]; and, • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is calling for submissions for the StudioWatch: Emerging Artist Exhibition: Painting, made possible by Earl and Sandy Brewer. This innovative series provides artists, in the early stages of their career, with the opportunity for a solo exhibition, the publication of an exhibition brochure and the purchase of one of their works by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

6. Artists Wanted for Isaac's Way’s Summer Art Auction

Isaac's Way is currently accepting artists to participate in the 21st Silent Art Auction for Kids-In-Need. This is a four month-long fundraiser with proceeds going to help sponsor local underprivileged children for dance classes.

7. Nominations sought for 2014 Playhouse Honours

The Fredericton Playhouse is asking the public for nominations for The Playhouse Honours 2014. Since 2008, the Fredericton Playhouse board of directors has awarded The Playhouse Honours annually. The recognition honours individuals’ involvement in the performing arts in Fredericton, fostering a deeper appreciation of the value that people can make to community life through their work in music, theatre, dance, spoken word and multidisciplinary performing arts. A permanent display in the west gallery of the Playhouse recognizes the honourees.

Nominations can be made by any person or organization. Underscoring the personal investment that they have made in the community, recipients must be individuals, not companies or organizations. Recipients may be a professional or amateur artist, administrator, volunteer, educator, philanthropist, advocate, organizer, etc. A selection committee (jury) comprised of members of the local arts community will review the submissions and recommend an honouree to the Fredericton Playhouse board of directors.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 30, 2014. Past recipients include Ilkay Silk (2008), Brent Staeben (2009), Philip Sexsmith (2010), Walter Learning (2011), Mabel Doak (2012) and Bonnie Kilburn (2013). The Playhouse Honours is generously sponsored by Atlantic Mediaworks.

8. Visual Artists Wanted for the Capitol Theatre Art Gallery in 2015

The Capitol Theatre Art Gallery is seeking visual artists who would like to hold an art exhibit in 2015. Artists from the region, or elsewhere, have until May 31st, 2014 to submit their application. Selected artists will receive an artist fee of $750.

The Capitol Theatre, located on Main Street in Downtown , is primarily a centre for the performing arts. However, it provides an opportunity to embrace artists whose disciplines involve the visual arts. The Capitol Theatre Art Gallery is located in the Irving Lobby of the performing arts centre, and has become an important exhibition area. High attendance to performances at the theatre ensures that exhibits receive great visibility.

A Visual Arts Committee oversees the selection of the artists. The exhibits are scheduled for an approximate two-month time period, subject to other activities in the theatre. Interested artists are invited to complete and submit the exhibition submission form, with their portfolio, before May 31. confirmed future exhibitions, a description of the proposed exhibition and a minimum of ten photographs of recent work, accompanied by a list identifying the title, medium, size and date completed.
