'Tis the Season to be Singing with the Elm City Echoes Any time of the year is great for singing according to members of the Elm City Echoes, Fredericton's barbershop chorus for women, but the Christmas season gives them a special opportunity to share their music with the community. They are inviting women who love to sing to attend rehearsals every Monday in November as they practise Christmas carols and other seasonal favourites. Then, on December 3, the newcomers will join regular chorus members to present a Christmas concert for their families and friends. "We'll be working on our Christmas music throughout November," says Carolyn Pellow, chorus president. "We'll be singing all the familiar carols and songs we associate with the holidays. Everybody already knows the words and music so this is really a chance for women to try four-part a cappella harmony. If they find they enjoy it, they can apply for membership in the new year." Women are invited to attend the Monday rehearsals at 8 pm at the Cathedral Memorial Hall, 168 Church Street. The Elm City Echoes will perform at several community events in the weeks leading up to Christmas including the St. Cecilia's Day concert at Wilmot United Church on November 18, the Annual Advent Carol Festival at St. Paul's United Church on December 5, and the Festival of Christmas Magic at the Forestry Centre on December 7.
