2020 World Peace Lamp at KARMA TRIYANA

Dear Friends,

From the Tune of Brahma Clarifying Karma that making light offerings brings you ten benefits:

You become like a light in the world. You achieve (when born human) the clairvoyance of the pure flesh eye. You achieve the devas’ eye. You receive the wisdom of knowing what is virtue and what is nonvirtue. You are able to eliminate the darkness of ignorance, the concept of inherent existence. You receive the illumination of wisdom; even in samsara you never experience darkness. You receive much wealth and enjoyment. You are reborn in the or human realm. You quickly become liberated. You quickly attain enlightenment. ~ Many such benefits are described in and .

On January 1, 2020 Karma Triyana Dharmachakra will continue the First Light tradition that began in 2000 with the aspiration of bringing peace into our daily lives and to the world. Venerable Karthar taught about the benefits of making lamp offerings and always encouraged support of the First Light efforts. Part of His Holiness’ activity is to point the way to living a life of love and compassion, to teach us to protect our environment and to provide the light of wisdom. Lamp offerings have special meaning in this regard: shining the light on our inner wisdom and reminding us of the clear path to living each day to create a life of peace. We invite you to light your lamps of peace — to join in our offering and prayers to help the light of wisdom reach all corners of the world in the New Year. You may dedicate your lamp offering to loved ones, to celebrate an occasion, to pray for the long lives of His Holiness the Dalai , His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, his heart sons, and other great masters. You may also dedicate your lamp offering to the continued flourishing in the future of the Dharma activity cultivated by Venerable and to the thriving of the practice of his many students. Your support allows KTD to further the activity of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa and to welcome students to this holy place of practice. To make a contribution, please call the Front Office (845-679-5906 ext. 3) or follow the links online at www..org/support. We hope you will join us at KTD on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 for prayer and celebration at 7:00 a.m. Eastern time. If you cannot join us in person, please join us in prayer from wherever you are.

Yours in the Dharma, Lama Karma Drodhul Lama Karma Drodhul KARMAPA KHYENNO President
