The week-long Karmapa Public Teaching (KPT) is another annual public event of Karmapa International Buddhist Institute that opens the door to fellows worldwide to meet and receive teachings from His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa and other distinguished teachers such as Ven. Jampa Thaye. The program takes places in March every year which is the most suitable month for international audience in terms of weather and travel comforts. This year (2014), the actual dates of the program have been confirmed to be from the 17th to 22nd of March as we had announced six months earlier. Nevertheless, the 16th and 23rd of March (arrival and departure dates) are included in the course registration.

The course is designed for every level of students and practitioners who wish to gain an overview of in a short period of time. His Holiness’ teachings will be on Bodhisattvacharyavatara by . This time, H.H. will start with the 1st Chapter which is about the preciousness and benefits of generating . Shantideva was a highly attained and one of the eighty four Indian . He was renowned for his practice and realization of Bodhicitta while living a low profile life. Thus, the book becomes more relevant to daily life and an easy approach for common people. H.H. will also bestow the audience with two empowerments at the beginning and the end of the program in order to root wisdom and method into the practitioners’ hearts.

Additionally, Ven. will lead the theoretical and practical session of Practice based on the text called Dorje Chang Thungma. Ven. Lama Jampa Thaye is one of the senior teachers of from the west with high qualifications. It is our hope that the essence of the practice will be achieved by the participants in a short time.

Ven. Tsering and I will teach together on dependent origination which encompasses the general idea of both relative and ultimate truth in Buddhist .

The whole course establishes three important keys; receiving a general Buddhist knowledge and the essential practice of as well as obtaining the right of .
