From the Joel Finn Collection Held by the Revs Institute – Naples, Florida the Susa – Moncenisio Hill Climb of 30 July 1950 From the Joel Finn Collection held by the Revs Institute – Naples, Florida The Susa – Moncenisio Hill Climb of 30 July 1950 From the racing archive of Guy Warburton, whose works Allard used a larger engine than the year before. Photos may tell us that it was a different car? The Rules pamphlet shows the winner from 24 July 1949 This is Piero Taruffi in the Cisitalia F2 (1200cc) car prepared by Abarth & Co. And the program has the entry list This is important to the historical description of Siata SC006 as the published results I’d seen previously reported “Malvetti” instead of Paesetti. Oops! I have no photographic archive for the Susa – Moncenisio of 1950 The results show a few cars and/or drivers that do not appear in the entry list, so there is a lot to study here as well! Hopefully, there is a photo archive somewhere. In the meantime, here are some hastily edited study notes: 30 luglio 1950 XVI Susa – Moncenisio 22.100 km (timed to 1/5th second) see AI 1-15.8.50 p59 (entry list from local paper) #2 A.L.F. 750 114349 Sandro Fiorio (6th/ Sport 750) 27’ 44.6” #4 Fiat-Giannini 750 Riccardo Foglio (8th/ Sport 750) 18’ 46” #6 ND 750 (not “Boby”) mot. 103 ? Inside, there are photos of the #76 Jaguar XK120 of Wild and the #106 Talbot Lago GP car of Grignard. .

  • Full Design Made in Italy
FULL DESIGN MADE IN ITALY ITALIAN STYLE APPRECIATED WORLDWIDE “In every project, creativity must always be measured alongside feasibility” Aldo Cingolani IL MAESTRO For his influence and outstanding contribution to the design and the car industry Nuccio Bertone was inducted in the Automotive Hall of fame in 2006 in Detroit, taking his place alongside other automotive icons, including Henry Ford, Giovanni Agnelli, Louis Renault and the Michelin brothers. The acclaimed automotive historian Fulvio Cinti described him as “one of the greatest coachbuilders of the century, and International Maestro of Italian Style” A GREAT HISTORY Founded in 1912, Bertone is one of the oldest and most prestigious «made in Italy» firms in the sector of automobiles, and has accompanied the automotive industry’s technological and stylistic evolution during the first century of its existence. From its creation to the 1930s, Bertone aroused the enthusiasm of a demanding public of collectors and gentleman drivers with its « Fuori Serie » cars. Under the guidance of Nuccio, the founder’s son, Bertone entered the 1960s with great success, riding the wave of the Italian economical boom and developing cars that would enter history as a result of highly skilled tailoring and leading edge technology. The Lamborghini Miura (1966) became a symbol of success worldwide. Followed by the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint (1953), Stratos Zero (1970), Lamborghini Countach (1971) and more recently by Jaguar, Ferrari, Aston Martin and BWM, all had the unique Bertone signature that made their success. 500 Owners Association MOTOR SPORT Magazine Clippings - 1940’s Issued: 4th March 2015 Notes on 500 and 500-related references This paper is an attempt to record every single 500-related reference from the entire run of the magazine. It includes articles, references in event reports, For Sale advertisements. It also tries to include details that are relevant to the context of the 500 movement, such as clubs, organisation of the sport, and the development of venues. The only area where it is limited is when covering the careers of 500 drivers before or after their time in the movement Status: All magazines in the time period have been fully catalogued. Notes On : • Magazine issues with no entry & light shading are not available for cataloguing. We would be grateful if you could volunteer to add any missing issues. • Every effort has been made to find references, including references in general and classified advertisements. However, it is quite possible that some may have been missed whether because they are very obscure, apparently irrelevant, or just human error. • Transcription Style: • Text has been transcribed verbatim (including spelling errors), with only modern grammar substituted for contractions (e.g. “S Moss” for “S.Moss”; “ftd” for f.t.d.) • “(sic)” notation may have been used where relevant in text, and is a transcriber’s note rather than the source text. • For longer articles, only pieces of note are transcribed. The ellipsis (“… “) before a sentence indicates that text deemed irrelevant has been skipped (which could run to many paragraphs, e.g. reports of other classes in an event report).

The Museum of Modern Art 11 West 53 Street, New York, N.Y. 10019 Tel. 956-6100 Cable: Modernart NO. 35D HISTORY OF DESIGN DEPARTMENT The Museum of Modern Art has had a long history, dating back to 1936, of working with industry and government to improve the quality of industrial and architectural design, and to increase public awareness of the importance of environmental needs. Competitions and exhibi tions organized by the Museum's Department of Architecture and Design have resulted in such classics of contemporary design as the chairs designed by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen. Experience has shown that this form of cooperation has made it possible for many new design ideas to enter public conscious ness, thus helping to make them a reality. THE TAXI PROJECT: REALISTIC SOLUTIONS FOR TODAY is the fourth Museum of Modern Art exhibition devoted to automobiles. 8 AUTOMOBILES, the first car exhibition to be held in an art museum, was organized in 1951. It dealt with the aesthetics of the auto mobile as a work of art as well as the problems of passenger-car design. The eight automobiles selected were: the 1931 Mercedes SS (German); the Army Jeep, manufactured by the Willys-Overland Motor Co. (American); the MG, built by Morris Car Co. (British); the 1939 Bentley (British); the 1949 Cisitalia, designed by Pinin Farina (Italian); the Talbot sport and touring car (French); the 1937 Cord (American); and the 1941 Lincoln Continental (American). In 1953, The Museum of Modern Art presented 10 AUTOMOBILES in the Museum's garden. Included were postwar American and European cars designed for mass-production, re vealing a strong Italian design influence.

  • How to Reach Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille
CHANTILLY ARTS & ELEGANCE RICHARD MILLE 9 & 10 SEPTEMBER IN THE PREMIUM LEAGUE! The fourth Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille will be held in 2017 and it has already earned prestigious accolades starting with the Historic Motoring Award of the Year for the first Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille by Octane, the benchmark British magazine, which gave it the same award the following year, and it was again nominated in 2016. Since 2015 it has enjoyed the honorary sponsorship of the French Ministry of Culture and Communications. And it has just been nominated by the Peninsula Classics Committee for the Best of the Best Award for 2016, 2017 and 2018. All these prizes have crowned the concept of this event that has revived the Concours d’Elégance of which France was the cradle in the 1920s, as well as celebrating the French Art de Vivre, an inestimable richness of which our country can be justly proud. Boosted by this success and still on the lookout for improvements to enhance the excellence of the event, Peter Auto is enriching and refining its concours to make it even more magical and captivating in the eyes of its public and partners. Thus, the 2017 event will have certain evolutions including new dates (a week later than in previous years), the Bonhams auction moved to Sunday, an even bigger spectacle with the return of Mario Luraschi with a new equestrian show, and a richer manufacturers’ village with Bugatti, DS Automobiles, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Tesla and others to be announced in the near future. And of course, the motorbikes! The ingredients that have put this newcomer in the premium league and thrilled more than 13 000 visitors in the last two stagings are still the same.
