ESSAY BUYING A NEW CAR Helen Webb In late July 2018 the air conditioning quit in my 2003 Mercury Sable. In May when the oil was changed, I was told that car needed about $2,000 of repair work. My plan was to wait until September 18, 2018 and buy a new car. September 18 was the last day of a three year insurance penalty for a prior mishap. For several weeks I was able to park in the shade and to do my errands in the mornings. Then the August heat arrived. In the meantime I had talked with several people about what kind of car to buy. Honda Accord was the unanimous winner. Several neighbors offered to go car shopping with me as did Lisa, my daughter. Eighty-two year old women should not go car shopping alone. I made an appointment with a highly recommended Honda salesman and was late arriving as I had driven past the dealership and got lost trying to find my way back without having to make a left hand turn. The salesman warmly greeted Lisa and me. He wanted to know what kind of car I wanted: the size, the motor, the various accessories, the color, etc. All of which are important to most people but not me. I told him:”I want a dependable car that will start on the first try and one I can find in a parking lot.” Actually, I didn’t want a yellow, white nor black car. Soon he had a car for me to test drive.

  • Ty Segall Shares Cover of the Dils' “Class War” Off Fudge Sandwich, New Covers Album, out October 26Th Via in the Red So
October 16, 2018 For Immediate Release Ty Segall Shares Cover Of The Dils’ “Class War” Off Fudge Sandwich, New Covers Album, Out October 26th Via In The Red Solo Acoustic Tour Kicks Off Saturday (Fudge Sandwich cover art) As previously announced, Ty Segall is releasing a covers album called Fudge Sandwich on October 26th via In The Red and in the midst of a solo, acoustic tour (all dates are below). With Fudge Sandwich, Ty celebrates his disparate musical influences by covering some of his favorite songs from his record collection -- everything from John Lennon to Rudimentary Peni gets the Segall treatment. In some cases, the renditions remain fairly faithful to the original, while in others, he completely turns the song on its head. There's no better example of the latter than Ty's take on the 1977 punK rocK classic “Class War” by The Dils. Fronted by brothers Chip and Tony Kinman (who sadly passed away earlier this year), The Dils were often referred to as “California's The Clash” and their song “Class War” was one minute and forty three seconds of slash n' burn punK aggression. Ty has taken the song and turned it into a melancholic ballad that's no less impactful than the original, but in a totally different way. The song’s lyrics are as poignant today as they were forty years ago. Chip Kinman has given it his seal of approval and says, "Ty Segall answers questions that Tony and I never even thought to ask with his version of ‘Class War.’ I LOVE it!" In addition to the aforementioned John Lennon, Rudimentary Peni and The Dils, Fudge Sandwich feature covers of songs Ty loves by Amon Düül II, Sparks, War, Funkadelic, Gong, Grateful Dead, Neil Young, and Spencer Davis Group.

JOKER an origin written by Todd Phillips & Scott Silver 1 DECEMBER 2018 FINAL SHOOTING SCRIPT 8FLiX.com SCREENPLAY DATABASE FOR EDUCATIONAL USE ONLY ii This story takes place in its own universe. It has no connection to any of the DC films that have come before it. We see it as a classic Warner Bros. movie. Gritty, intimate and oddly funny, the characters live in the real world and the stakes are personal. Although it is never mentioned in the film, this story takes place in the past. Let's call it 1981. It's a troubled time. The crime rate in Gotham is at record highs. A garbage strike has crippled the city for the past six weeks. And the divide between the "haves" and the "have- nots" is palpable. Dreams are beyond reach, slipping into delusions. TP/SS 8FLiX.com SCREENPLAY DATABASE FOR EDUCATIONAL USE ONLY OVER BLACK: HEAR LAUGHTER. The sound of a man totally cracking up. FADE IN: INT. DEPT. He's sitting across from an overworked SOCIAL WORKER (50's), African American. Her office is cramped and run-down in a cramped and run-down building. Stacks of folders piled high in front of her. • Ty Segall Presents “Radio” Off First Taste, New Album Due August 2Nd Via Drag City
July 1, 2019 For Immediate Release Ty Segall Presents “Radio” Off First Taste, New Album Due August 2nd Via Drag City Listen HERE Tickets for Special LA + NYC Residencies On Sale Now; LA Residency Kicks Off This Month Photo Credit: Denée Segall Ty Segall presents “Radio,” a new single from his forthcoming album, First Taste, due August 2nd via Drag City. Just in time for the July 4th festivities (such as they are), “Radio” should satisfy all our barely-subsumed bloodlust and immutable desire to rule while also providing a majestically boomboxable anthem to revel along with at the cookout. As “Taste,” a number that “churns like a buzzsaw without forfeiting any melody” (Rolling Stone), continues to rise at radio, new single “Radio” sizzles with koto by Segall, saxophone and piano by Mikal Cronin, bass by Emmett Kelly, percussion and drums by Segall and Charles Moothart, and back up vocals by Shannon Lay. Through layered vocals, Segall describes shedding an old identity, adopting a new one and accepting what he cannot change: “It makes me feel like I am living for free // While I’m watching the new radio // My anger has gone away // Replaced by my new name // I’m no longer empty // I need no family.” “‘Radio’ is a science non-fiction song,” says Segall. “We live in a Cronenberg film. It has Videodrome saxoheadphones. I am a slave to the new radio and so are you.” First Taste is an introspective set for Ty Segall after the extroversions of 2018’s Freedom’s Goblin, yet just as steeped in hard beats.
