AAF District 7’s role in the NATIONAL STUDENT ADVERTISING COMPETITION A HISTORY 1967–2012 AAF DISTRICT 7’S ROLE IN THE NATIONAL STUDENT ADVERTISING COMPETITION ––– A HISTORY I first became knowledgeable of the activities of the Seventh District in 1982 when for the first time, I attended their Convention. Prior to this Convention a member of our Nashville Advertising Federation, Bill Satterwhite, asked me to handle some minor duties for the District Student Advertising Competition, which was to be held in Nashville in 1983. He Dear Charlie, described these duties as “being in Thank You for sending charge of getting some equipment to be me a copy of your book used for this competition, such as projection screens, sound on the NSAC and the equipment, etc.” I agreed to take care of this assignment, but Seventh District. was much surprised when at the National Convention in June, Former Governor Mike Gallagher, congratulated me for being IN I enjoyed it, and deeply CHARGE of the District Student Competition for ‘83. I told him appreciate your taking that there must be a mistake because I had only been informed the time to highlight of duties related to arranging for some equipment. The aftermath this important AAF of all of this was that I was the Competition Coordinator in 1983. National program and This was a significant assignment for me in that while the Seventh District’s carrying it out, I became aware of the uniqueness of this student central role in starting, competition, and became completely enthusiastic about the developing, and purposes served and value received by advertising students from growing it. -

Federal Communications Commission DA 02-241
Federal Communications Commission DA 02-241 Before the Federal Communications Commission Washington, D.C. 20554 In the Matter of ) ) Amendment of Section 73.622(b), ) MM Docket No. 01-1 Table of Allotments, ) RM-10013 Digital Television Broadcast Stations. ) (Macon, Georgia) ) REPORT AND ORDER (Proceeding Terminated) Adopted: February 1, 2002 Released: February 6, 2002 By the Chief, Video Services Division: 1. At the request of Gannett Georgia, L.P. ("Gannett"), licensee of station WMAZ-TV, NTSC channel 13, Macon, Georgia, the Commission has before it the Notice of Proposed Rule Making (Notice), 16 FCC Rcd 193 (2000), proposing the substitution of DTV channel 4 for station WMAZ-TV's assigned DTV channel 45. Gannett filed comments reaffirming its interest in applying for DTV channel 4, if allotted to Macon. Macon Urban Ministries, Inc., d/b/a Good News Television ("Good News"), licensee of NTSC television station WGNM, Macon, Georgia, and Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission ("Georgia Public"), licensee of noncommercial educational television station WGTV-TV, Athens, Georgia, filed counterproposals.1 Gannett and Good News filed reply comments.2 Additional comments were filed by Gannett, Georgia Public and Good News. 2. In its counterproposal, Georgia Public requests the substitution of DTV channel 4 for station WGTV-TV's assigned DTV channel 22 at Athens, Georgia. Our staff review indicated that Georgia Public's counterproposal would cause impermissible interference to station WYFF-TV, DTV channel 4 at Greenville, South Carolina. Therefore, Georgia Public's counterproposal was found to unacceptable for consideration and was not placed on public notice. 3. Approximately 5 ½ weeks after the initial comment period closed for filing counterproposals, Georgia Public filed a "Motion to Accept Late-Filed Reply Comments and Reply Comments." In its pleading, Georgia Public seeks permission to submit a late-filed corrective engineering statement to reflect a counterproposal that will satisfy the Commission's technical criteria. -

Before the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Washington, DC 20554 In the Matter of ) ) MB Docket No. 17- WSBS Licensing, Inc. ) ) ) CSR No. For Modification of the Television Market ) For WSBS-TV, Key West, Florida ) Facility ID No. 72053 To: Office of the Secretary Attn.: Chief, Policy Division, Media Bureau PETITION FOR SPECIAL RELIEF WSBS LICENSING, INC. SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM, INC. Nancy A. Ory Paul A. Cicelski Laura M. Berman Lerman Senter PLLC 2001 L Street NW, Suite 400 Washington, DC 20036 Tel. (202) 429-8970 April 19, 2017 Their Attorneys -ii- SUMMARY In this Petition, WSBS Licensing, Inc. and its parent company Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (“SBS”) seek modification of the television market of WSBS-TV, Key West, Florida (the “Station”), to reinstate 41 communities (the “Communities”) located in the Miami- Ft. Lauderdale Designated Market Area (the “Miami-Ft. Lauderdale DMA” or the “DMA”) that were previously deleted from the Station’s television market by virtue of a series of market modification decisions released in 1996 and 1997. SBS seeks recognition that the Communities located in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties form an integral part of WSBS-TV’s natural market. The elimination of the Communities prior to SBS’s ownership of the Station cannot diminish WSBS-TV’s longstanding service to the Communities, to which WSBS-TV provides significant locally-produced news and public affairs programming targeted to residents of the Communities, and where the Station has developed many substantial advertising relationships with local businesses throughout the Communities within the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale DMA. Cable operators have obviously long recognized that a clear nexus exists between the Communities and WSBS-TV’s programming because they have been voluntarily carrying WSBS-TV continuously for at least a decade and continue to carry the Station today. -
