The aim of the Publisher is to raise the merits and the international position of the quarterly published by the Faculty of Management, that is why we are still developing the cooperation with foreign team of reviewers, as well as an international Scientific Council. The Editors have also attempted to apply for international databases; currently the quarterly HSS is indexed in Index Copernicus Journal Master List, The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (CEJSH) and ERIH PLUS. The Journal has been also included in the list of projects qualified for funding under the “Support for scientific magazines program” . The articles published in this publication are devoted to the broader issues of the humanities and social sciences. They are the result both of theoretical and empirical research. XXV, 27 (3/2020), p. 7-20 July-September Anna BARWI ŃSKA-MAŁAJOWICZ 1 Kamila T ĘCZA 2 REGIONAL LABOUR MARKET AND DEPOPULATION – AN ASSESSMENT OF THE SITUATION IN THE PODKARPACKIE VOIVODESHIP Currently, the aging population is an important phenomenon facing Europe. This study focuses on demographic changes and their importance for the labour market that are becoming a more noticeable problem in Poland. The conditions of depopulation have a significant impact on the size of labour demand and supply. The article characterizes selected factors that determine the phenomenon of depopulation and its impact on labour market changes. The main aim of this study is to present the situation on the Polish modern labour market (using the example of Podkarpackie Voivodeship) within the context of assessing the dynamics of changes in selected parameters in relation to the process of current and future depopulation. The researchers used the desk research method and descriptive statistical analysis to analyze the data. In addition, there was an analysis of the following demographic measures: age dependency ratio, total fertility rate (TFR), population growth, and net migration. Additionally, the authors describe the statistical measures related to the labour market such as e.g. registered unemployment rate. The time range includes the years 2012–2018 and forecasts from current time until 2050. Keywords: regional labour market, depopulation, migration, ageing society. 1. INTRODUCTION As a result of globalization, sharing open inter-state borders in European Union and intensification of human capital mobility, Polish enterprises have clearly felt the economic pressure related to, among others, increased competitiveness of economies and economic entities (Drze żdżon, 2011), which led to numerous consequences for the functioning of the labour market. The author emphasizes the importance of these sources for research on the history and culture of Polish Jews in the 17th and 18th centuries. He also specifies the types of documents related to Jewish issues authenticated in these books (e.g. manifestations and lawsuits, declarations of the Radom Tribunal), as well as current source publications and internet databases containing selected documents from Ukrainian archives. The Central State Historical Archive in Lviv (CDIAL) (known as the Bernadine Ar- chive) and the Central State Historical Archive in Kyiv (CDIAUK) both have exten- sive collections of records of the so-called castle courts (sądy grodzkie), also known as local Starost courts (sądy starościńskie) for the nobility: from the Bełz and Ruthe- nian Voivodeships in the Lviv archive; and from the Łuck, Podolia, Kyiv, and Bracław Voivodeships in the Kyiv archive. This is particularly important because – in the light of Jewish population counts taken in 1764–1765 for the purpose of poll tax assessment – these areas were highly populated by Jews.

    The Oneiric Veil in Contemporary Australian Art hilm (Dream) Kelly Devrome Bachelor of Visual Art (Fine Art) Diploma of Education (Secondary) Master of Arts (Research) This exegesis is submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Doctor of Philosophy University of Ballarat P.O Box 663 University Drive, Mount Helen Ballarat, Victoria 3353 Australia Submitted, June 2011 The Oneiric Veil in Contemporary Australian Art researches the use of the veil in modernist art and its generative capacity to visually evoke an oneiric space. The oneiric veil is a lens through which current conceptual approaches and practices in contemporary visual art can be understood. More precisely, the oneiric veil delineates an intermediary space present in current visual culture. Therefore, the research surveys the veil sign and applications of it employed by artists from an extended historical period to demonstrate connections that link the veil to the oneiric through traditional practice and theoretical concerns. As a painter and drawer, I use the modernist veil, including the grid and shadow, to evoke a field and convey a multiplicity of meaning pertaining to site-specificity. The veil functions to create a filtered and intermediary effect characteristic of the physicality of a site-specific space. I examine the modernist veil with regard to the veiling applications used in painting to produce a metaphysical space whereby the formal uses of binary oppositions have been explicitly fore-grounded. To demonstrate how the veil produces multiplicity, I examine how the modernist veil generates the presence of an oneiric space and links to poststructuralist theory. This conceptual underpinning of the oneiric, and its link to the modernist framework, will contribute a new interpretive frame to the visual space of contemporary art today.

Brosnan Dr. Candace Jesse Stout ii Copyrighted by Kerry Dixon 2016 ii Abstract This dissertation study is part of Project ASPIRE (Apprenticeships Supported by Partnerships for Innovation and Reform in Education) (U.S. Department of Education Award Number U336S090049), which created a new model for urban teacher education based on principles of equity, diversity, and social justice. That model was focused on preparing highly qualified teachers in hard-to-staff content areas to teach in high-need public middle and high schools. This dissertation focuses on one component of the overarching ASPIRE project: a teacher inquiry group comprised of veteran secondary science, mathematics and world language teachers charged with determining how arts- integrated teaching and learning could inform the preparation of pre-service urban teachers in their content areas. Specifically, the study explores how four of the inquiry group members—one mathematics teacher and three science teachers—engaged with and enacted arts integration in their own classrooms. While many arts supporters have advocated for the inclusion of the arts within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education policy, funding and practice, there is currently little research-based consensus on what exactly constitutes high quality STEM-Art integration. Furthermore, there is scant research-based guidance on how such integration can be systematically enacted to meet the needs of all students.

The research focuses on “leotard ballets”, which are viewed as a distinct sub-genre of plotless dance. The investigation centres on four paradigmatic ballets: Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments (1951/1946) and Agon (1957); Forsythe’s Steptext (1985) and the second detail (1991).
