    I Longobardi e la nascita di “Carica” Il definitivo abbandono della città si ebbe attorno al 587, quando venne distrutta dai Longobardi, un popolo barbaro violento e grezzo di origine germanica che sotto la guida del Re Alboino venne in Italia attorno al 568 conquistando i territori dellaLombardia, Emilia, Toscana, Umbria (Ducato di Spoleto) e Campania (Ducato diBenevento), mentre il resto dell’Italia rimase sotto la giurisdizione dell’Imperatore bizantino. Fu per ordine delDuca di Benevento Zottone I che fu distrutta la città di Fabrateria Nova insieme a quella di Atina ed Aquino, portando così i confini sul fiume Liri. Gli abitanti della città si sparsero un poco ovunque, alcuni si rifugiarono sulle pendici del nostro monte Formale (Madonna della Guardia), e diedero consistenza all’attuale paese di San Giovanni Incarico CARICA( ), altri si stanziarono presso l’ultima propaggine dei monti Lepinicostituendo l’attuale paese di Falvaterra (Fabraterra); un’altro gruppo si trasferì sulla sponda sinistra del fiume Liri ove sorse la cittadina attualeIsoletta di (Insula Pontis Solarati). Tutti e tre i paesi si ritrovarono a far parte dell’agro Aquinate sotto il dominio Longobardo. Inutile dire come fosse stato difficile agli inizi per gli abitanti del nostro paese vivere quasi in condizioni di schiavitù, senza tetto e minacciati dalla fame e dalle malattie. Si entrò a far parte del ducato di Benevento, uno dei più importanti ducati della storia longobarda in Italia. Data la lontananza del governo centrale e non essendo sottoposti alla diretta sorveglianza del Re, divenne quasi un vero stato autonomo. Il nostro paese cominciò a formarsi lentamente, dando origine al primo nucleo abitato presso l’attuale Piazza Giudea.

Costa. Since, they have been discovered at some 20 sites, ranging in age from the Middle Villafranchian (Costa S. Giacomo, with both Anancus arvernensis and Mammuthus (Archidiskodon) meri- dionalis), to the Late Pleistocene (S. Anna near Veroli, with Mammuthus primigenius). Most of the relevant faunal record, however, is of Middle Pleistocene age, and is characterised by Elephas antiquus. This species was discovered, most notably, at several archaeological sites, in association with Acheulean industry, starting with Fontana Ranuccio near Anagni, which is dated to c. 450 ka bp by K/Ar. At such sites, bones of Elephas antiquus were sometimes knapped to produce bone tools, including bone handaxes. 1. PROBOSCIDEA IN THE VALLE LATINA Stephanorhinus cfr. NOV., FINAL STAGE IN THE 'ELEPHAS ANTIQUUS' PHYLUM By HENRY FAIRFIELD OSBORN' A flood of light on the anatomy and relationships of the 'ancient' or 'straight-tusked' elephant known as 'Elephas antiquus' has resulted from the discovery in 1911-12 of the skeleton of Upnor and of the skull and jaws of Pignataro Interamna near Cassino, Italy, herein described as Paleoloxodon antiquus italicus. The skeleton of Upnor, under the subspecific name Elephas antiquus (andrewsi?), was excavated in 1915 and finally restored and reconstructed in the British Museum in 1927 under the direction of Dr. Charles W. Andrews and Mr. C. Forster Cooper. The cranium and jaws of Pignataro Interamna were discovered in July, 1926, and exposed by a farmer, Saverio Tiseo, while excavating for building purposes, in the extraordinarily perfect condition shown in figure 1 and most fortunately reported to Professor Giuseppe De Lorenzo, Director of the Institute of Geology of the University of Naples and a member of the R. Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Professor De Lorenzo promptly made a preliminary communication2 on this most important discovery, and in the following year (1927) published, with the co6peration of Professor Geremia D'Erasmo, also of the University of Naples, a superb memoir entitled "L'Elephas antiquus nell' Italia Meridionale."3 This memoir (pp. 1-35) affords a most valuable review of the discoveries previously made in the valley of the river Liri (see Fig.

Andrej Kona Brand Institute, o.z., Bratislava – Slovakia. Abstract: This paper provides a comparison between the Coat of Arms and the Brand. In order to outline the characteristic features of the Coat of Arms and the Brand, it is important to look back at how communication developed throughout history. The Coat of Arms was used in chivalry and by the aristocracy as a representative tool. Today, Brands show features which are very similar to those that are inherent to the Coat of Arms and serve the same purpose. This paper explains and clarifies why these two presentation and communication instruments were established at different times in history, what purposes they served and why they are so similar, at least from a historical point of view. Keywords: Brand, Logo, Heraldry, History, Brand Identity, Communication, Presentation 1. PEOPLE AS COMMUNICATORS AND TRADERS The Logo came into existence with people´s desire to communicate. The most important elements of the Logo are symbols (including the alphabet) and signs which developed and were used over millennia. People and their communities used various identifiers to differentiate themselves from others through signs, signatures and emblems (logos) over centuries, and millennia. A modern society, representing itself through Logos, different colour combinations and slogans, is not much distant from the Royal Courts of the 15th century that created the Coat of Arms, uniforms and religious symbols as their presentation tools.
