COLETTE BARRON

Are you an individual who comes to school everyday, in fear of being stopped by a faculty mem- ber due to your outfit? Are you still scared even though your outfit deems as appropriate for school? I’d have to say that I feel this way. Each school has an established dress code, which ensures the safety of all stu- dents and faculty. However, in recent years the dress code has been un- necessarily enforced. Both girls and boys get dress coded, but lately, girls have been under the microscope in what they wear to school. Examples of what girls/guys may get dress coded for are exposed backs, plung- ing necklines, short shorts/skirts, or clothes that may be too tight fitting. Faculty members and administration believe that wearing these garments distracts students. In today’s society, males are most commonly distracted by fe- males.
