Digital Regionals 2021- Call for Officials EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT UNITED KINGDOM ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Digital Regionals 2021- Call for Officials https://www.eypuk.co.uk/ Liverpool Town Hall, LS2 3SW Regionals in 2021 EYPUK runs a variety of regional forums every year, each consisting of one day of General Assembly. In light of the coronavirus pandemic, we have taken the decision to move our regional events for 2021 online. Moreover, in light of the new format and the cancellation of EYPUK’s first extended regional forum earlier this year, each digital regional will last 2 days. Our 9 2021 Regionals: South of England 13th-14th February Wales 20th-21st February South East 1 20th-21st February South East 2 27th-28th February Midlands 6th-7th March Scotland 13th-14th March Northern Ireland 20th-21st March North of England 20th-21st March Merseyside (North West) 27th-28th March Each session takes place over a weekend, with Teambuilding and Committee Work ​ (OCs only) taking place on the Saturday and General Assembly taking place on ​ ​ the Sunday. Applicants are expected to be present for the duration of the weekend, as ​ well as for an additional CMOJ weekend taking place in early February. Exact dates ​ ​ are to be announced. https://www.eypuk.co.uk/ Liverpool Town Hall, LS2 3SW The Call Each digital regional session is looking for: ● 2 Vice-Presidents ● 6-8 Chairpersons ● 2-3 Jury Members Moreover, we are also looking for applications to be media team members. Rather ​ ​ than having one media team per session, there will be one larger media team, ​ responsible for creating projects for all of the regional sessions. This team will be ​ managed centrally by the EYPUK Communications Team. More information, including the application questions and the google forms to apply, ​ ​ can be found under the headings below. If you have any questions concerning the application process or events themselves, please do not hesitate to contact the EYPUK Regionals Team at ​ [email protected]. ​ Vice-Presidents The Vice Presidents will support their President throughout the session. This will involve preparing and leading modules during the CMOJ weekend, helping the chairpersons to prepare for the session, supporting the chairs team during the session and leading the General Assembly alongside the President. Applicants with prior chairing experience, especially if digital, will be looked highly upon. How do you see your role as a Vice-President at the session? What will you bring to this role? (200 words maximum) 2. Given the 2-day digital format, what challenges do you think you may face, and how will you overcome them? (200 words maximum) 3. What are the most important aspects of good leadership? (150 words maximum) Chairpersons Chairing at the Digital Regionals will be an excellent introduction to the role, or a more relaxing experience for experienced applicants, as it will be a little different to usual. Chairpersons will not be expected to write a Topic Overview prior to the session, and in Committee Work, delegates will work with pre-written Introductory Clauses to form the Operative Clauses. At the session you will lead the committees through Teambuilding, Committee Work and the General Assembly. You will be supported by the session Vice-Presidents and President throughout. (200 words maximum) Jury Members The role of the Jury team will differ slightly from at our usual regional fora. In the role you will work under a Head of Jury who will be able to help you gain an understanding of the role, and act to support you throughout the session. (150 words) Media Team Members There will be one media team for all of the regional sessions, meaning that you will have flexibility in your work, as well as more time to complete your projects. You will be overseen by the EYPUK Communications Team, led by Ellen Knight and Abi Foskett, who can guide you as well as support you in your work. You will not need to attend every session for the entire weekend, but you will be expected to produce content spanning all of the sessions, as well to work as a team on creating a ‘Regionals 2021’ video.     An exploratory case study focusing on the creation, orientation and development of a new political brand; The case of the Jury Team 1 Introduction Political marketing can be defined as the application of commercial marketing theories, concepts, orientations and tools to the political environment (O’Cass 2001; Speed et al. 2015). It has evolved significantly as a sub-discipline of marketing since the seminar work of Lock and Harris (1996) and now represents a sophisticated area of study “beyond the black arts of propaganda” (Harris and Lock 2010:297). Further, political marketing scholars have considered the marketing management process of intelligence gathering, objective setting and the implementation of political campaigns and programs to produce efficient and effective relationships between political entities and the electorate (O’Cass 2001; Ormrod and Henneberg 2011). However, despite progress made within the political marketing arena, more empirical understanding is needed as this will allow the sub-discipline to advance and continue to develop (Harris and Lock 2010). This includes a paucity of comparative studies within political marketing (Baines et al 2011; Ioannides 2010; O’Cass and Voola 2011; Smith and Speed 2011). Political marketing can only develop it if continues to apply new concepts or reapply advanced theories and frameworks (Speed et al. 2015). One area within political marketing that continues to offer a wealth of insight yet remains under-researched is the application of political branding (Harris and Lock 2010; Lock and Harris 1996; Nielsen 2016; Scammell 2015). Indeed, French and Smith (2010:460) argue that, “the concept of political parties as brands is now commonplace and part of a general dispersion of branding from its original, consumer marketing origins”.
