4-day trip to a region full of lonely winding roads, castles, fortified towns and relics of the two world wars.
Travel info compact: Day 1: Meeting point for departure on Thursday at 9am is the Maxi Autohof Kirchheim service area at the Grünstadt exit on the A6 towards Kaiserslautern. Through the Nordpfälzer Bergland we ride into the Hunsrück, then down into the Mosel valley, a bit along the Mosel loops and then over the heights of the Eifel to Vianden. A few more kilometres to the luxurious hotel in the heart of Clervaux - with a large spa area and truly excellent cuisine.
Day 2: Friday: Round trip first north to Malmédy, then to the spa town of Spa, on to Dinant with its riverside promenade on the Meuse and then in a wide arc via Bastogne back to Luxembourg.
Day 3: Saturday: Via the idyllic small town of La-Roche-en- Ardennes to the fortress town of the crusader Gottfried von Bouillon. A little further south into the French Lorraine, past the fortress of Sedan to the beautifully restored citadel of Montmédy. The way back leads us via Arlon and past the reservoir of Esch-sur-Sûre.
Day 4: Sunday: Via Larochette in the heart of Luxembourg we ride to Echternach at the German border, then along the river Sauer to its mouth into the Moselle at Wasserbillig. Now we ride through the Saarland, the Western Palatinate and the Palatinate Forest to Bad Dürkheim (approx. 3 pm) for the final dinner. Afterwards individual journey home.
