The Ages - Twin Peaks Owls 3 : 0 Scorers: New Age (72.), The Sixties (74.), Carboniferous (57.) ***--- The Ages picked the right strategy for this game, and had no problems winning it. They're closing in on the top three, but have generally been solid at home. Perhaps the away game is greater reason for worry? Dummys - Mishima Zaibatsu 0 : 0 Booked: Madonna ***--- Dummys picked the right strategy, allowing Mishima Zaibatsu very little play in this one, and as made sense, it ended goalless. Extreme - Ladida FC 1 : 3 Scorers: Rooney (77.) ***Cowboy-Laila (45., 78.), Beyonce (60.) Extreme picked the better strategy, but still, Ladida were a little stronger and managed to edge out a win. I guess Extreme simply aren't strong enough for the Premiership now, even though they would have deserved quite a few more points so far. -

Introduction Season ending This is the last issue but one, and I'd like to take the opportunity to ask you all to recruit players. Next season will start in 2-3 weeks; you can introduce them to the game yourself, or simply refer them to me and I'll take it from there. As you saw in the earlier email, I'm asking you what you want to do with your team(s) for the next season. Your options are 1) Drop the team 2) Restart the team (generated with 60 VP as you did before this season) 3) Keep playing the team as is The choice between 2 and 3 is this season only – later on, if your team has 60 VPs or more, it will be played on (by you or someone else) – and if your team has less than 60 VP, it will be deleted, and you (or someone else) have to restart it. Also please include whether you'd want to 1) Start a new team and/or 2) Take over an existing, dropped, team I'll use the rules set out on the homepage for assignment of teams – but the best is, of course, if it fits a multiple of 12 without having to «take» teams from players. -

Animating Race The Production and Ascription of Asian-ness in the Animation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra Francis M. Agnoli Submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) University of East Anglia School of Art, Media and American Studies April 2020 This copy of the thesis has been supplied on condition that anyone who consults it is understood to recognise that its copyright rests with the author and that use of any information derived there from must be in accordance with current UK Copyright Law. In addition, any quotation or extract must include full attribution. 2 Abstract How and by what means is race ascribed to an animated body? My thesis addresses this question by reconstructing the production narratives around the Nickelodeon television series Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005-08) and its sequel The Legend of Korra (2012-14). Through original and preexisting interviews, I determine how the ascription of race occurs at every stage of production. To do so, I triangulate theories related to race as a social construct, using a definition composed by sociologists Matthew Desmond and Mustafa Emirbayer; re-presentations of the body in animation, drawing upon art historian Nicholas Mirzoeff’s concept of the bodyscape; and the cinematic voice as described by film scholars Rick Altman, Mary Ann Doane, Michel Chion, and Gianluca Sergi. Even production processes not directly related to character design, animation, or performance contribute to the ascription of race. Therefore, this thesis also references writings on culture, such as those on cultural appropriation, cultural flow/traffic, and transculturation; fantasy, an impulse to break away from mimesis; and realist animation conventions, which relates to Paul Wells’ concept of hyper-realism. -

She had been trying to convince people that Jin was not an international criminal committing war crimes against several nations but many people chose to ignore her defensive case. Desperate and running out of leads, Xiaoyu turned to Heihachi Mishima, who had restored the Mishima Zaibatsu back to its original state. Xiaoyu couldn't tell Heihachi that she was looking for Jin but she was willing to help Heihachi any way she could. Doing so, Heihachi paired Xiaoyu with Chai Xianghua, a Chinese soldier who was sent on assignment to cover up an incident, and Christie Monteiro, who was not only looking for Eddy Gordo but also secretly working with Lei Wulong as a private investigator. While it seemed as though Xiaoyu was eager to work for Heihachi and was willing to do whatever he commanded, Xianghua and Christie were not as eager as her, which raised suspicion within Xiaoyu and started to question her partners' motives. -
